Really enjoyed this Spanish film on Netflix. The Platform.

Prisoners trapped on floors in a massive tower block. Only one lot of food gets sent down between floors each day, with each floor getting less food than the next after the floor above has taken from the pile. The lower floors getting nothing.

Worth a watch.

Yeah, it had an amazing cast.

Watched this for the second time a few days ago and enjoyed it just as much....

The Call of the Wild (2020)

I recommend a good bottle of red to go with it.

Wonder Woman 1984

I like my superhero movies, but I wasn't particularly impressed with this one.

Agreed. After really enjoying the first one was disappointed with this.

Watched another good found footage/mockumentary yesterday called Creep. Guy takes a job filming a dude dying of cancer. The dude is a bit weird. Very dark and unsettling I thought. Worth a watch for horror fans.

Thank you. Managed to enjoy it, even without the bottle of red. :thanks:

The Meg (2018)

Jaws on steroids, the Meg being a 75 ft prehistoric shark. Jason Statham fans might love it, for the rest of us it's not a complete waste of time.

^^It's actually not that bad, just not that good either...

I meant to refer to a moment of comic relief when this little Yorkshire terrier jumped off a boat and was merrily doggy paddling in the sea, until it spots Jaws 2 heading for it and does a swift U-turn. Turns out it was quite a popular moment...

Tenet (2020)

Just what in the blue fcuk was that all about? I'm usually good with these time travel paradoxical type movies but this one was over my head ... or maybe I'm just getting old. Will need to revisit this 2.5 hour mind bender at some stage.

Couldn't agree more, just that I won't be wasting another eternity re-visiting.

I managed about 3 mins. of Tenet, before my shit detector rang and I changed the channel to Snooker. Reality always holds my attention better than fantasy.

Quite an old one that I just got round to but what a great film! Recent headline events of the reddit group screwing over hedge fund guys over GameStop stock, got me wanting a wall street kinda movie.

The Big Short 2015

Is based on the events that triggered (and the folk involved in) the US housing market crash and subsequent recession in 2007/8. Stellar cast. Stellar performances. Both funny and horrifyingly shocking at the same time.

This belongs in a 'humour thread' but it was after watching a movie, so I'm putting it here. Feel free to move it.

This afternoon I was watching 'The Secret Garden' with my daughter. One scene showed a robin perched on a branch and it reminded me of one of my favourite poems:

"The Robin"

I woke early one morning,
the earth lay cool and still
when suddenly a tiny bird
perched on my window sill.

He sang a song so lovely
so carefree and so gay,
that slowly all my troubles
began to slip away.

He sang of far off places
of laughter and of fun,
It seemed his very trilling,
brought up the morning sun.

I stirred beneath the covers
crept slowly out of bed,
and gently closed the window
and crushed his fucking head.

The only poem I can remember verbatim from my schooldays courtesy of my English/PE teacher Roger Hamer (RIP).

The Spring is sprung, the grass is riz
I wonder where the boidies is
They say the boid is on the wing
Aint that absoid, the wing is on the boid .

Spoken in a New Yoik accent :D
