We had a very intense thunderstorm last evening, the heaviest rain was between 7&8 pm with directly overhead lightning and very loud thunder, but it continued off and on at a lower intensity throughout the night. I had to dump water from the swimming pool three times to avoid it overflowing.

Yes, I was caught out in it yesterday. Strange, as it came in from the West moving East. Another big storm this morning, it has also moved out to the the East, and is around the Airport right now.

Maybe with some luck those almost empty reservoirs up north will get some filling. Pete

....while I'm at it before the power goes out. I've got rivers running down the street here in Rayong as I speak and the temp has dropped to chilly!

The synoptic charts show an intense low pressure trough extending all the way from India in a West to East line out into the South China Sea. It has cleared up where I am in Bangkok, but the cloud bank out east of the airport is huge. It appears to be stationary, but the cloud bank is fascinating to watch. It looks like a huge mountain range, but peaks keep slowly changing. It is most probably well past the airport, but if not there will be some bumpy landings!

Luckily it looks like Hua Hin will escape the next bad weather hitting Thailand:

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general ... in-bangkok

"Of the 32 provinces, 13 are in the North. They are Phitsanulok, Tak, Sukhothai, Uttaradit, Phetchabun, Lampang, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan and Phrae.

Another 10 are in the Northeast — Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Sakhon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mudahan, Bung Kan, Nong Khai and Udon Thani.

Four are in the East — Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat. The remaining five are in the South — Ranong, Phangna, Phuket, Krabi and Trang.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said on Saturday tropical storm Mujigae, which was over the South China Sea, was moving west-northwest at 18 km/h.

It was forecast to move across Hainan Island and make landfall in upper Vietnam on either Sunday or Monday.

Thailand will be affected by the storm from Sunday to Tuesday, said the department."

Typoon Mujigae

"The typhoon was forecast to move north-west at about 20 kilometres per hour and arrive in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region late on Sunday.
It was forecast to move across Hainan Island and make landfall in upper Vietnam on either Sunday or Monday.
Thailand will be affected by the storm from Sunday to Wednesday, 4-7 October 2015.

Please be informed that the heavy rain may possibly cause flooding, runoff and landslides so please close your door and window
and be careful about your belonging in the balcony that may loss or cause any accident."
