The airport bus uses the outer ring road so you should be well away from any political problems but keep looking on this site to know what is happening from day to day.

I'm arriving next week. Where would be the best place to get off the VIP Bus to get a Song Thaew or taxi to Khao Takiab, where I will be staying for at least the first few days?
And thanks for all the information and advice on this forum!

The bus station that the airport bus uses is halfway to Khao Takiap already and there are normally taxi and motorbike taxi operators waiting just outside on the main road.

The airport bus didn't run yesterday, the first day of the protests. The operator put a notice on their website 2 days ago. Normal operations resumed today, I know because I took the bus from Bangkok today. Unless the protesters change plans, service should continue without a problem.

...so the concensus is that the bus is more comfortable than a taxi? Is the taxi much quicker? My wife and are due to arrive BKK at 8.00am 5th Feb - are there any protests planned for that day?

Thanks

^ no one in all the world can tell you what the situation will be in BKK two/three weeks from now.

Do yourself a favor and book the bus for the two of you. Allow whatever time you think you will need to get off the plane, through immigration, claim bags, etc. The bus is the way to go.

Think long, think wrong. Cheers!

Some taxis will be very quick, but it will be a white knuckle ride. If you're considering a taxi, book with a safe company in advance e.g. http://www.taxihuahin.net/ .

Personally, if I were doing the journey, and there were convenient buses, I'd go the bus route.

There's a bus that leaves at 9.30 so providing your flight is on time you should be ok to connect. Travel by bus will be approx 1 hour more than by taxi, but if you've read some of this thread you will see that this bus service gets good reviews.

Regret not seeing this earlier! Booked a private transfer for 7 times the price.

I came in on it two weeks ago (1130 service), left 15 minutes late but made up the time and arrived in Hua Hin at about 1520. Only two empty seats onboard. Good service, I'll be using it again when I leave. Booking on website was easy too.

To keep from looking through 14 pages of posts on this forum I would like to ask if this thread is still about the bus mentioned in the link in the first post (bus company Roong Reuang Coach). The reason I ask is that the artist conception bus on the web site is a different color from the silver one I see running from here to the airport, and I need to look at the schedule and possibly book.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I went last week to the HH bus station to pre-book 2 seats for some visitors arriving at the airport next week..
..I had to wait a good half hour before my turn at the office window, & once my task was done, & I turned around the queue was still the same length...
...now to me that was a good sign, word's out this service is good, plenty of passengers..keeps the route running.. :thumb: (& still no price hike as yet..full marks to R.R.Coach Co.)
