Liverpool have fined him but say he'll stay and the FA have charged him with violent conduct. I reckon he'll get about the same as what the Dutch gave him, as a minimum. The ex-FA compliance person (Graham Bean) thinks the FA will make an example of him, we'll see?

I don't really understand the calls for anything more than a three game ban. When some footballer dives in two footed with a possible career ending challenge he gets his red card and his ban. When some footballer gives a guy a little nibble on his arm people are calling for him to be hung, drawn and...

Horrible thing to do either way but a leg breaking reckless challenge is far worse.

I see this little episode is bringing out all the 'has beens' in the papers as usual. Each of them feeling that little more important with each word written.

"Should never be allowed to play in England again", scoffs one.

"His Liverpool days must (and have to be) over now as he has truly shamed the club", moans another.

Give him his ban as with any other red card and let's get back to the footy...

Seems like the FA, understandably, doesn't share your view:

"The FA has charged Liverpool forward Luis Suarez with violent conduct.

The charge follows an incident with Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in yesterday's fixture at Anfield [21 April 2013].

The incident was not seen by the match officials and has therefore been retrospectively reviewed.

It is alleged that the conduct of Suarez constitutes violent conduct and it is the FA's contention that the standard punishment of three matches that would otherwise apply is clearly insufficient in these circumstances. *

Suarez has until 6pm on Tuesday 23 April to respond to the charge, thereafter an Independent Regulatory Commission will be convened this Wednesday, 24 April."

*Of course, the 'Independent' commission may not agree.

The FA are wasting no time on this and I suspect he won't play again this season and for a good few games at the start of next season.

I don't know about desperation, but possibly a misjudgement for once.

Amazing first half.....Van Persies hat trick, could have had a fourth......Rafael hitting the post.
Villa were overrun but came back well in the second half. They are decent enough going forward but their defence often gives the impression they could even implode against the likes of Plymouth Argyle !
Van Persie will rightly get the acclaim for last night and his seasons contribution but the most improved player for me this season has been Rafael. He's been top drawer in most matches.
But Uniteds next two matches are Arsenal (a) and Chelsea (h) so the Spuds fans will be hoping we can do them two big favours.

Incidentally,Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted Luis Suarez may have mis-interpreted his half time team talk when he told the Uruguayan "you should be having Ivanovic for breakfast out there."
Suarez understands only limited english so may have taken Rodgers words literally !

Two footed tackles are nasty but accepted as part of the game,if not condoned.Offences like spitting and biting are vile and should be punished accordingly.

By the way, where is Arcadian ? I enjoyed his thoughtful posts.

Clearly tackling is part of the game and whereas some tackles can be excused as "enthusiastic", or mistimed, there is no way that a bite can be anything other than a deliberate action, so Suarez deserves to get a ban of more than 3 games.

Little trivia question for you here. I'm not condoning any of the acts... just curious as to what were the punishments given?

The following ended the man's career.

... and then we have our English darling showing millions of kids back home what kind of language/behaviour is most appropriate after completing a hat trick.

Like everyone else I'm all for clearing the shite out of football, but let's try and have a little consitency.

He will probably leave Liverpool at the end of the season and end up playing in Germany. Maybe for Borussia Munchonacenterbach. :naughty:

Nice of them, lets hope they also provide ManU with 3 more points!

It's official, A 10 game ban.

That seems legit.

I personally think the FA "committee" needs restructuring, it should not be a faceless group of old boys club toffs who live by their own laws.

I'd be much happier with recent ex-pros, Gary Neville, Gary Lineker and Lee Dixon for example.

The FA are a faceless law upon themselves, the "ref saw it" rule also needs reviewing.

Suarez deserves a ban, but 3X violent conduct +1 stinks of making it up as you go along. Oh, and if the face fits.
