The Foreign Ministry spokesman was on radio Thailand this morning talking about expatvac.consular.go.th
Not much new info on when the appointments will start to be notified, except that there’s a hotline at the Consular Dept on 02 572 8442. The notifications will be by email or sms from the hospital /public health office handling the vaccination NOT from the Consular Dept though.

If she's there for a vaccine it's for over 60s and 7 specific underlying conditions.

Certainly there are a lot of Bangkok plated cars in Hua Hin today. Queue down to Chomsin from road to Huay Mongkol was longer than I've seen it in more than a year.

Yes, I saw that, that's why I mentioned it. Anyway, she's been jabbed, no charge, no backhanders, and has an appointment for no. 2 next month.
EDIT: She was given AZ.

AZ in Hua Hin Hospital? I thought they give only Sinovac as first shot.

No idea, just passing on what I was told. I have a selfie of her waiting at the hospital, but no pics of the vaccine.

According to everything I've read, that's far too soon for a second dose of AZ. Others that have been vaccinated in the last week with AZ have an appointment for the second dose in October!

Agreed Tel although I believe it's 3 weeks with the Pfizer jab.

I looked it up for somebody a couple of days ago. Whilst 12 weeks was the most effective, it did say the 2nd dose could be given any time between 4 and 16 weeks from the 1st dose.
If she says she was given AZ, I don't disbelieve her because HHH must have told me at least 7 times what vaccine I was being given. It would be hard to get it wrong.

So now they're bragging about the number of foreigners who have 'REGISTERED' for the vaccine. The number who have been VACCINATED is the relevant number.
Can't choose your vaccine "unlike other countries" because of a world-wide shortage of vaccines. That should read a Thai national shortage, not 'worldwide'.
The donated Pfizer vaccines will be distributed to the vulnerable. Fine.
However, she didn't mention plans for a further donation of 1 million Pfizer vaccines. The Thai authorities were eager for the US to state that this donation of vaccine and cash 'had no strings attached'. On Thai news yesterday morning (I can't find any English version), our beloved Anutin stated that this donation is being reserved for the military causing an uproar. Apparently he gave the reason as the military needs protecting so it makes sense to have a reserve 'stockpile' for use by the military.
Can anyone find an English reference to this. The Thais that I know said it was on Thai news.

I don't doubt that she got the AZ. What I was questioning is the time between 1st and 2nd dose which according to DM's post, her second shot is less than 3 weeks away.
You should get your second dose of AstraZeneca 4 to 12 weeks after your first dose.
Getting a second dose earlier offers less protection, but could be a way to get more people vaccinated sooner
The UK took that last option but only reduced the time to 8 weeks.

^^ Can't even find a Thai reference to this. There was the slight controversy over the army sergeant showing off his vax card. And then there is the question of why hospitals are only getting 60% of what they asked for. But nothing about a million doses for the army..

There's so much info overload and it may or may not be relevant but I did read last week or so that a shit load of donated doses got diverted to Buri Ram which happens to be Anuntins home town.

Suspect that she got Sinovac with second shot next month being AZ. Anyway, perseverance was rewarded. Seems like the hospital really wanted to finish this batch of vaccine.
