Re: Premier League 2012-2013
Mourinho a dick??? are you serious.
Mourinho started out as a player and eventually switched to management. After working as a physical education teacher and spells working as a youth team coach, a scout, and an assistant manager in the early 1990s, he became an interpreter for Sir Bobby Robson. He worked with Robson at Sporting Lisbon and Porto in Portugal, and Barcelona in Spain. He remained at the Catalonian club after Robson's departure and worked with his successor Louis van Gaal.
He began focusing on coaching and impressed with brief but successful managerial periods at Benfica and União de Leiria, taking the latter to their highest ever league finish. He returned to Porto in early 2002 as head coach, winning the Primeira Liga, Taça de Portugal, and UEFA Cup in 2003. In the next season Mourinho guided the team to victory in the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, to the top of the league for a second time, and won the highest honour in European club football, the UEFA Champions League. Mourinho moved to Chelsea the following year and won the Premier League title, the club's first league title in 50 years, and the League Cup in his first season. In his second year Chelsea retained the Premier League and in 2006–07 he took the club to an FA Cup and League Cup double, though they finished as league runners-up. He often courted controversy for his outspokenness, but his victories at Chelsea and Porto established him as one of the world's top football managers. Mourinho left Chelsea in September 2007, amidst reports of a rift with club owner Roman Abramovich.[9]
In 2008 Mourinho signed a three-year contract with Serie A club Internazionale. Within three months he had won his first Italian honour, the Supercoppa Italiana, and completed the season by winning the Serie A title. In 2009–10 Inter became the first Italian club to win the treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League, also the first time Inter had won the latter competition since 1965. In doing so, Mourinho became the third manager in football history to win the UEFA Champions League with two different teams, after Ernst Happel and Ottmar Hitzfeld.[10] He won the first ever FIFA Ballon d'Or Best Coach Award in 2010. He then signed with Real Madrid in 2010, winning the Copa del Rey in his first season. The following year he won the La Liga and became the fourth coach, after Tomislav Ivić, Ernst Happel, and Giovanni Trapattoni, to have won league titles in at least four different countries: Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain.[11] Mourinho is the first manager to win the traditional top three European league championships, the first manager win every domestic trophy (the league championship, cup, super cup, and league cup (if available), in four European leagues), and the first to guide four different teams to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
I would imagine supporters from many premiership clubs would jump at the chance of having mourinho as their manager.
Cant think off hand which club he wrecked, Chelsea went on to win further silverware and of course after semis and finals actually won the champions league.
Porto are not wrecked nor will real madrid be.
I think if mourinho is a dick it puts a whole new meaning on the phrase.

There's no doubt he's a dick. That doesn't necessarily make him a bad manager. Look at Ferguson.

I'm deadly serious.tuktukmike wrote:Mourinho a dick??? are you serious.
Just take a look at the picture of him gouging the eye of the current Barcelona coach.
Today all the back pages are about him lifting up his skirt to "An English Club" whilst doing a press conference for his current employees.
He's great at his job though and is charismatic and mildly amusing.
I know many fans wouldn't welcome the man and not because of his undoubted success and ability.tuktukmike wrote:I would imagine supporters from many premiership clubs would jump at the chance of having mourinho as their manager.

Re: Premier League 2012-2013
I suppose he would only go to a club where he could spend mega-millions, could he be successful on a low budget?
Re: Premier League 2012-2013
I think he would do ok to be honest, he really gets into players heads for a couple of years.arcadianagain wrote:I suppose he would only go to a club where he could spend mega-millions, could he be successful on a low budget?
I doubt he could build a club and sustain it, but for a couple of years I think he'd get a team to punch above their weight.
His teams play abysmal football mind.

Other than Bob Paisley and Dalglish there has not been a top flight manager who can hold a candle to Ferguson in the last 30 years !.....that includes the likes of Wenger and Mourinho.
You cannot sustain this level of success if you are a "dick."
Just look at the managers you have had in that time......David Pleat,Peter Shreeves,Osvaldo Ardiles,Gerry Francis,Christian Gross,Juande Ramos.....
Not one of them could compare to the likes of Ferguson,Paisley,or Dalglish.....not even Wenger or Mourinho !
Think before you post this drivel.....you should be facing a lifetime ban !

Re: Premier League 2012-2013
I'm sorry, I thought we'd already established that 'dickness' had nothing to do with managing ability.
Quite a few managers are dicks, it probably goes with the territory.
I wonder if I'll be so defensive of AVB in 20 years...

Got to love Zidane, he's actually got a clue what he's talking about.Zidane wrote:Other than Bob Paisley and Dalglish there has not been a top flight manager who can hold a candle to Ferguson in the last 30 years !....
I'd put Shanks in there and possibly Ex-Liverpool Captain, Sir Matt Busby, Fergies ruled it like a Mafia Don, he's had relatively poor teams win leagues.
I can't wait until he calls it a day, and that's a compliment.

Bob won 3 European cups in what? 5 years? Ferguson is just relentless though.
Tough call.

Re: Premier League 2012-2013
Zidane, do you know much about the history between Ferguson and Dalglish?
Fergie used to give him a lift to training back in their Glasgow days.
Then famously Dalglish, holding his daughter, walked past an interviewer, who was asking Ferguson questions and said "you'll get more sense out of her"
Ferguson was also the first to ring after Hillsborough. Both did the prologue in each others books too.
Alot of respect between the two of them.
