When I started going in the early 80's we had the 'Big 5' and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, personally thought it worked rather well, who says change is good ?
Also you could pee where you stood, had your shoelaces and unbrellas looked after for you at the door, you could have a good old surge and you had football burgers instead of bagels.

The league table is like a rainbow to me, look at it while you can cos by the time the toast is done and you go back out in the garden it'll be gone.
I only enjoy beating the teams the league table lies through its back teeth at this stage.

HOLY SHIT!!!

Fifa have banned Chelsea from registering any new players in the next two transfer windows which will mean they will not be able to bring a player into the club until 2011.

Yes, loans are banned.

The Chelsea squads average age will be about 37 by the time they can sign anybody.

The relevant rule:

4. In addition to the obligation to pay compensation, sporting sanctions
shall be imposed on any club found to be in breach of contract or found
to be inducing a breach of contract during the protected period. It shall
be presumed, unless established to the contrary, that any club signing a
professional who has terminated his contract without just cause has induced that professional to commit a breach. The club shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for two registration periods.

Whilst it couldn't have happened to a more plastic club, I fear it could set a 'nasty precedent' (no, not GW Bush). How many clubs break the rules these days :?

Still, just like the league table, it is something that should be rejoiced while it lasts.

SJ, I just posted on another thread that I did not care if Spurs cost you large amounts of notes when they lost out of your life savings, Perhaps my karma has come back to haunt us.

There is no way that this will stand up in court.

Interesting thing is that the player himself has been handed a 4 month ban as well for his part in the deal.
On top of the 4 month ban the player has to pay Lens more than 700,00 Euros and Chelsea have to pay 130,000 Euros for breach of contract.

There was one interesting interview with a French sports journalist that I heard earlier. He stated that it was not a point that Chelsea poached the player away from Lens, their was not a problem with that.
Is more of the fact that the player broke an apprenticeship contract with the club, and that is what they were looking for in respect of compensation.

If this proceeds look out for Everton filing the same sort of case against Manchester City.
David Moyes must be rubbing his hand together at present. He was very vocal about Man City's poaching of Lesscot.

Am listening to Talk Sport from the UK at present (that was where I first heard about it) and is making a big debate on how it will all end.
I had wondered about if we could set up loan deals, but another poster reckons not, anyway will post any further info that I hear .

The dispute is over the fact that he was a few weeks under 16 years old when he was signed. If the contract was signed one day after his 16th Birthday there would have not been a problem.

Look at what happened during the transfer window, a lot of teams signed younger players and then before the ink was dry on the transfer forms, loaned then out to other clubs without even playing there.

At least the player Chelsea signed is still at the club and going through the ranks there.

Will they investigate the transfer of Ronanldo to Real Madrid or the workings of that club in the close season or how they funded it.

Even as a Chelsea fan I have a lot of respect for Sir Alex, will be interesting as a business if Utd in the light of the poaching allegations pointed at Chelsea, happen to challenge Madrid for poaching Ronaldo away from the club.

In finishing, this should be not restricted to younger players but to all players that are contracted with any club.
I know that people will point at the Ashley Cole deal, but there is so much tapping up done these days who knows what is going on.

Daivid Moyes got another 5 grand out of Man City by not letting Lesscot go when he 1st wanted to. I hope that he can now prove City tapped him up and lets see if if the top brass come up with a similar punishment for them

Roma got it reduced to one transfer window by appealing in 2005.

Another club who appealed (I can't be bothered looking it up at the minute) are waiting for the verdict from last year.

If this becomes a test case, then it has to be applied on all transfers not just for young players.
Players sign a contract when they sign for a club, but it is like any other job.
If you have a disgruntled employee and had an employee in the same situation, why would you want to keep them.
In saying that if I was the boss, I would let him go on my terms not his/hers. '

Chelsea, did your club not get a warning/suspended sentence for the Cole or Mikel debacles?

I heard of but did not see the shit that happened when Cashly Cole was signed.

At the time I did not agree with his signing. To this day, had Wayne Bridge been able to get a full run in the side (after Cashly was signed and when he come back from injury), I am still of the opinion Bridge would have been a better left back than Cole.

I do not blame Bridge for leaving for Man City, but if he has a good season there it will be a good shake on who gets the LH Side position in the World Cup.

So what are the odds now on Everton making a complaint against Man City? If they haven't already & I'm behind the times :|
