The following is a recent update posted in the Bangkok Post. It is NOT from Immigration per se, but a consultant group.

Thailand's TM30 revisited: Clarifying the confusion?

https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/17 ... confusion-

For our regular Human Resource Watch series, we published on 24 June 2019 details of the TM30 Immigration reporting requirements as then understood. In response to many requests we now update from currently available information.

Wow ! If your landlord refuses to register the tenant, then the tenant must move elsewhere !

If the landlord is working or busy that day, I cannot see them giving up a morning to go to immigration every time the tenant goes away !

Esp. in BKK where you have to go to Chang wattanna which could be an hour plus to get to and hours there.

This will really impact people with work permits who travel and yet there are adverts on CNBC all the time saying how good Thailand is as a place to work....

Registration for the online facility should smooth the way.

Saw my immigration guy yesterday while shopping. Said 'hello' like I always do. Then I asked him why I wasn't asked about a TM30 as it seems to be all the talk on the forums. His reply while smiling: "You've been here a long time. I know you. You not make any problem. Don't worry."

So it may be that if your face fits!!.......

The BBC is in on it now..... Long article.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-49470726

TM30: The form getting expats in Thailand into a bureaucratic tangle

"Thailand has long been an attractive destination for Western expats - where money goes further and can buy a good quality of life. But the revival of an arcane immigration law has angered the expat community and got them questioning their freedoms in Thailand, as George Styllis reports from Bangkok.

"I've been made to feel as if I'm not welcome here," says Zareeka Gardner, a 25-year-old English teacher from the US.

Since arriving in Thailand in April, she has racked up immigration fines totalling 12,400 baht (£330). A large part of that is because her apartment manager failed to promptly file a form saying where she was staying."..............

The 'Gardener' example makes no sense, as the landlord is responsible and fined, not her. Something missing from that story about TM30s.

Is this not what we've been discussing? I thought both parties were penalised.

One point has no answer. If the owner or landlord lives in another city or province, how can be the document signed ? One solution copy the signature.

If someone actually does this on-line reporting, can you please post of copy of whatever receipt you get which I would think needs to be copied and put in your passport as proof of reporting.

Now that I've worked out that stupid first question/answer I will the next time I go away - nothing planned just yet though.

I’ve missed my 24 hour reporting by almost two weeks, based on being told by the Immigration Officer that it wasn’t necessary, so I’m going to wait and see what happens when I try to do my online 90 day report in November.

I would guess absolutely nothing, but, of course, interested to know how you get on.

The more international press this gets, the less likely they are of rescinding it. The face they'll need to save is getting bigger.
