The Recommended Movies Thread
Re: The Recommended Movies Thread
After the bad reviews, I dumped it without even trying it.

Re: The Recommended Movies Thread
From the reviews it appears that you either love it or hate it with no middle ground.
I've not watched it yet but the family and kids thought it good.
Only one mentioned that it's not as good as the last one but still worth a watch.

Maybe our loss, but at 2hrs 27mins, it would need to be very special for me to stay awake. I've heard enough bad reviews to avoid it.

For horror fans:
Just watched 'Dead Silence' from 2007. Never heard of it but it's as much a horror as you'd expect.
Apparently was a flop on release. Some reviewers reckon it was ahead of it's time and if released today, it'd be a hit.
Certainly one of the better horrors I've seen.

Still cleaning my underwear after the first one!!
[EDIT] Very poor reviews (the film, not my underwear, which is great I might add).

From the master of horror himself, James Wan (Saw, Insidious). Not my favourite from him as he's brought out some belters but a good watch nevertheless. Here's a good article about James Wan, his movies and discussion as to why Dead Silence failed in cinemas and got forgotten.HHTel wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 11:17 pm For horror fans:

One of my favourites from James Wan isn't a horror actually. Death Sentence is a cracker if you haven't watched it. Also widely panned by critics and a 20% rotten tomatoes score. Kevin Bacon and John Goodman (for a bit) in an unhinged revenge thriller.
Here if you haven't watched it yet.

Re: The Recommended Movies Thread
Thanks for that link re Dead Silence. Reading between the lines it appears that it was a good movie that was sabotaged.
Despite all that, I and others in my household loved it.

Re: The Recommended Movies Thread
The Gray Man available on YTS (quite amazing how they get these movies so quickly)
Not watched it yet. I hope it's not just 'hype' in the publicity. The big-budget movie was released last Friday (July 22) and has stormed straight to the top of the Netflix most-watched list. The Gray Man has ranked No.1 for the last couple of days and its position at the summit of the list is unlikely to be challenged for a while yet.
Re: The Recommended Movies Thread
I watched it a couple of days ago. It took a short while to get going, but once it got there, the momentum continued. Plenty of action. Enjoyable, but top of the list at the moment, is probably a reflection of what else is out there.

Watched The Gray Man last night. I enjoyed it.
Gosling as cool as ever and good to see Evans as the sociopathic bad guy for a refreshing change.

Good one for all the family out today. Minions: The Rise of Gru.

One I watched on Netflix the other day was pretty good. Alone. A simple, no frills stalker movie. I enjoyed it. Can't see it on YTS yet.

The Thai cave rescue movie, Thirteen Lives, is out. A few big names in it with the legendary Ron Howard directing. Long one at almost 2 and a half hours, but I don't think Ron's ever done a movie that wasn't brilliant.
