Several weeks ago I was asking for help in switching off Norton 360 because I had deduced that was the reason I could not get my friends HP 3 in 1 Printer to install correctly. With a bit of help from this forum I eventually tracked down the instructions.

Before I got around to trying my solution, Khundon was experiencing a similar problem. Buksida suggested:
Instead of installing the wads of junk that comes on the HP CD just install the drivers alone, to do this plug the USB printer in, turn it on and Windows will prompt you for the driver, let it search the CD drive and it should find and install only the driver automatically.
and
Vista should actually have the drivers for most of today's printers built in, HP instruct you to use their CD in order for them to install the world of shite software that comes with the device!
Trusting his judgement rather than mine, I went with Buksida's suggestion first. Thank you very much Buksi :thumb: it worked a treat.

All but 2 of the drivers were already available in Vista. I then inserted the disk and the other 2 were downloaded. At this point the rest of the rubbish on the disk tried to download - I simply pressed the cancel button, and removed the disk. My friend now has a perfectly working printer.

I remember you(Buksi) saying it is most likely to be a "cookie" issue/problem but you failed to elaborate on a possible solution, is it simple like a setting error or do I need to replace something etc.
There is nothing wrong with the specs of your machine so I would put it down to Kasperspy or your browser security settings blocking third party cookies (including HHAD). This will stop you seeing any 'latest' topics when you log in - they are generated by a 'session ID' on the board and a cookie (small text file the HHAD server places on your computer to remember your personal settings and topics you haven't read). Try setting your browser security at 'medium' and telling Kasper not to mess with cookies!

Are you sure about the cookies thing? I access HHAD on up to 6 different PCs in any week (sometimes more). Whenever I click 'view posts since last visit, it always knows the last time I accessed HHAD, regardless of which machine I'm working from.

Yes, thats the session ID part, it works together with a cookie.

Took my crap HP back to PC world for a full refund and got me an Epson all in one and it works just fine and much more user friendly than HP.

Sorted. :D

Now I am going to try to upload a scanned pic from it, to see if I can do it.

I bet I can't.

Well I don't know how, but it worked.

That sea should be 20ft below the wall. :?

Thanks everyone for advice on printer problems.

Nice pic Khundon, but either you have got the date wrong or someone hadn't set the date correctly on the camera as that seems to indicate 10/5/1999..... :D

Wanderlust :)

Correct, it was a little point and squirt Olympus film camera and my wife never set the date correctly and I could not be bothered to.
On that date I was in Australia, so it would have taken one hell of a zoom lens to take that pic.

To get that 1 half decent pic she used 15 shots, as the wind was so strong.

All the pics taken on it for a year are the wrong date.

We then got a tiny Sanyo Digital camera 3.1 Meg Pix and now I have just bought a Fuji with 10mpix and a good optical zoom, which I hope to use this summer.

Trouble is I'm hopeless when it comes to cameras but starting to learn and with digital shots it doesn't cost anything to delete them.

This is one of the massive bonus's with digital cameras. You can click away like a complete spaz and then delete at will (sorry Will!)

What do you mean "Like" I am a complete spaz and damned proud of it.

The problem now RC is there are a lot more buttons and settings on my new one and like remote controls or programming VCR's I'm hopeless, so it is down to trial and error (mostly error) for a while.

Have to say it's fun though. :D

Frequently, especially today, I'm getting the following from FireFox from nearly all websites I try to access including this one. If I keep trying I usually eventually get it but it is very frustrating because it can be an hour or more before I can get the page I want.

"Address Not Found

Firefox can't find the server at (insert web address).

The browser could not find the host server for the provided address.

* Did you make a mistake when typing the domain? (e.g. "ww.mozilla.org" instead of "www.mozilla.org")
* Are you certain this domain address exists? Its registration may have expired.
* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check your network connection and DNS server settings.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing."

I have a 1160 baht business connection through TT&T Maxnet. Why do I get this at least 50% of the time lately? BTW, nothing changed on my local hardware or software...this just started happening for no reason and I have a good firewall and aniti virus software as well as anti spyware software.

Buksida sorry

Here is one for you then.

When I click on View more Emotions on this site, my computer bleeps at me (I have it set to do that so I don't open a site that may contain problems/pop ups) and it will not let me open the emotions screen.

However if I click on it about 10 times, it relents and lets me see the page.

My computer sounds like an angry Italian in a traffic jam. :(

My pop up blocker is set to allow pop ups from this site and my security is all set at medium.

I run Vista Premium and Avast anti virus.
Is it the way Vista runs or should I change my security settings.
