Just a bit confused about the reported death today. The report says he was admitted to hospital with symptoms and they did an ATK tests which came up negative. They then did a RT-PCR which was positive.

Why do the ATK if they will do the PCR anyway?

Only faster than 2 PCR tests. Sure they get a result faster but it's obviously unreliable anyway.

A positive result faster would give them the required knowledge to know what they are treating sooner. OK, this time the result was unreliable. I can't think of any other logical reason.

The inaccuracy is quite small compared with a PCR. So in most cases it would be sufficient:
He said the results were rechecked using the Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test which found only a 3% discrepancy rate, indicating that ATKs are sufficiently accurate. The kits can be used to conduct tests at home.

Has anyone who has been in Makro during the period of employees being infected and checked in with their smartphone, received a notice from the govt. that they may have been exposed or are we dealing with the HMS Pinafore where all they do is polish the brass?
