Health officials on Tuesday Dec 28 reported 38 new COVID-19 cases, 8 of which were found in Hua Hin.
Elsewhere in the province, 3 cases were found in Pranburi, 13 cases in Sam Roi Yot, 1 case in Kuiburi, 1 case in Thap Sakae, 2 cases in Bang Saphan, 1 case in Bang Saphan Noi, and 8 cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan. No new deaths.

Of the 19,878 cumulative total cases in the province, 432 are currently receiving treatment in hospital or are staying in quarantine, while a total of 19,982 have made a full recovery and have already been discharged.
Health officials say 7 patients are currently in a serious condition in hospital, while 101 others are in what is described as a moderate condition.

Meanwhile, health officials have announced that 814,911 people in Prachuap Khiri Khan have received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Of those, 408,655 have received one dose and 377,849 have received both doses. 28,407 people have received a third ‘booster’.

GroveHillWanderer wrote: Mon Dec 27, 2021 10:09 am I'm not sure exactly when their results will be part of the official figures for Hua Hin but four of the latest cases are getting a bit closer to home for me.

My niece, her boyfriend and two of my grand-nieces all tested positive yesterday. I haven't seen any of them for over a week but I was with the parents of my two grand-nieces on Christmas day. Both parents have tested negative so far, but have another test scheduled in two days time.

Fingers crossed.
Parents both still negative after their latest test so I may be in the clear (in terms of not having been in contact with a person testing positive).

It's interesting to me that two kids could have it but their parents, who are obviously in extremely close contact with them every day, have not got it (apparently).

I suppose it could have something to do with the fact that neither kid has shown any symptoms so far - no fever, cough, runny nose or anything. And although we know that asymptomatic people can transmit the virus, I imagine the chances of it happening must be less than with a symptomatic person.

In fact the only one who had any symptoms was the niece's boyfriend (and he's the only reason the others needed testing). My niece similarly had no symptoms despite living with her boyfriend - although she is triple-jabbed already.

There is some evidence that asymptomatic infections are around half as likely to transmit it to others plus recovery is shorter and consequently the period of transmit ability is shorter.
Now, evidence suggests that about one in five infected people will experience no symptoms, and they will transmit the virus to significantly fewer people than someone with symptoms. But researchers are divided about whether asymptomatic infections are acting as a ‘silent driver’ of the pandemic.

Byambasuren’s review also found that asymptomatic individuals were 42% less likely to transmit the virus than symptomatic people.

In a manuscript posted on medRxiv this month2, they report that the risk of an asymptomatic person passing the virus to others in their home is about one-quarter of the risk of transmission from a symptomatic person.

They “are not coughing or sneezing as much, they’re probably not contaminating as much surfaces as other people”.

But asymptomatic people seem to clear the virus faster and are infectious for a shorter period.

There is a very worrying entry in today's clusters for Hua Hin. Does anybody know any more about it please?
-Huahin hospital(surgery ward)+8
[Edit] Even stranger when today's Recharge number is 40%, but 80% of today's cases seem to have come from one place.
