I need to support a team to be able to be interested in any games that may affect the competition, whether that be the Champions League, Premier League or in this case the World Cup.

With England guaranteed to disappoint it has been hard taking much interest in the other games.

Bring on the Premier League for the real footy where every weekend there is a number of games that can affect the outcome or indeed my mood for the following few days!

Yes, I hear what you're saying in the messages above. Some of us though, including me, don't have a steady or reliable viewing source for Premier League or Champions League matches. It's hit and miss and worse now with True since another company took over local TV rights last season.

The World Cup is a treat with steady games day in and day out, even if it kills me (us) which it may.  Pete

In the unlikely event of Woy's reserve team doing well tonight, an honourable man would ignore the fact his contact has been extended. He should fall on his sword, and give a capable manager a chance.

I have to admit to not yet being fully engaged in this World Cup, with or without England.

The only game of interest tonight, with something at stake that I'm bothered about, is the Uruguay - Italy match.

Hopefully, when we get through to the knock-out stages, It'll get more intereesting.

As for Hodgson, I'm okay with him staying on. There's not exactly that many obvious candidates waiting in the wings and I would only want an 'outsider' if they have good premiership experience. If Hodgson can get the balance right to replicate the attacking play against Italy, minus Rooney, who was a passenger in that game, coupled with effective defensive cover, then I'm certainly okay for him to carry on until the euros. I think after that, Gary Neville will be shoehorned in.

On saying that, I don't see the right balance tonight, but at least he's left cap'n Marvel and Rooney out, so that's a start! But Rooney is, or should be important and hopefully Van Gaal at United can get him back on track.

Moyes would be a reasonable pick IMO. Anyone read where he's going, if anywhere, next season?

You can't be serious? There is no way a Scotsman would ever manage an England football team, it would be consider treacherous.

There was a time some years back when Ferguson's name was being banded about as possible England Manager and I'm sure if he'd have been interested it could have happened, but not Moyes.

I think there is more chance of David Cameron being the next England team manager, rather than David Moyes ! :rasta:
For the moment,Hodgson is the best bet.The problem is we havent got the world class players anymore and the youngsters will need a couple of years to come through.
The biggest area we are lacking is in defence. For years we have relied on Ferdinand,Terry and Cole in major tournaments but they are gone and there replacements are not up to scratch. If we would have had those three at their peak in this tournament we would probably have drawn against Italy and Uruguay and be looking forward to tonights match.
I think theres no point in selecting Johnson,Jagielka and Baines again as they will never be good enough but who to replace them with ? Hopefully,Shaw for the next 15 years,Stones from Everton maybe is one.Jones did really well for United in his first season but the last couple of years he has been plagued by injury and his form has suffered accordingly. At 24 he's still young enough to make the grade, though.
Also upfront,Rooney is lucky there isnt much competition but should he be played in a central role to the detriment of Sterling or Welbeck, for instance ?
Midfield we are not too bad and we should be able to cope with the retirements of Gerrard and Lampard reasonably well.
We're all on our uppers,we're all going skint,

Watching 2 teamof no particular interest to you in the middle of the night gets old very quickly, one game for me.
Is it the general impression that there have been many dreary uninspiring games played.

Lost interest in England soccer quickly and watched the cricket instead. Incredible survival by England until the 2nd last ball. Gripping.

England`s passing rate would have been much higher if those pesky foreigners didn`t keep getting in the way!!!

So the nut job super gnasher (Suarez) is at it again! Wonder if FIFA will have the balls to take any action? You can see the bite mark on the Italians shoulder - and apart from being in pain, he was furious - and it was picked up by TV.

As Ian Wright said, 'the guy has got some serious problems'!

He certainly won't be in England next season!
