Re: Pattaya > < Hua Hin
Just to let everyone know that the ferry service is becoming more popular and, with the weather gradually settling down, there shouldn't be so many cancellations from now on.
There are a couple of organisational changes:
1. The departure from Hua Hin (Pak Nam Pran) has been moved forward from 1.30 p.m. to 12.30 p.m. with immediate effect.
This means that the free shuttle from the Clock Tower is now at 11.30 a.m.
So arrival in Pattaya is also one hour earlier, enabling those travelling on to Ko Samet or Ko Chang to get across to the islands the same day.
2. Our lease at Crepes & Cruises has expired and we have decided to change the location of our booking office.
So, for the time being, we will take all bookings by phone or email.
I will post here again with details of the new location once it's up and running.

Re: Pattaya > < Hua Hin
Just out of interest Barry, is there any trend developing yet of the % share of passengers, originating from either Pattaya or Hua Hin? I'd assume there's far more from Pattaya making the crossing, purely due to size of population.barrys wrote:Just to let everyone know that the ferry service is becoming more popular
Glad to hear it's going well for the operators

Sorry to hear Crepes & Cruises is closing, as you know I always paid it a visit on my trips and last went there with 3 friends on New Years Day. I also know how much work you put into it as I was there when you had some kids from the Orphanage painting and cleaning when you first took over the lease and before you installed the salas in the back. I don't think enough people knew what a little gem was at the back fronting the beach.
Good Luck anyway.

I initially made the same assumption as you.Super Joe wrote:Just out of interest Barry, is there any trend developing yet of the % share of passengers, originating from either Pattaya or Hua Hin? I'd assume there's far more from Pattaya making the crossing, purely due to size of population.SJ
However, I've just done the stats since the service started and the result is:
Pattaya -> Hua Hin 53.8%
Hua Hin -> Pattaya 46.2%
The occupancy rate for tomorrow's crossings is 50%!
So we're seeing a steady increase after only 2 1/2 months.
Re: Pattaya > < Hua Hin
Hi,
Where i can catch a boat to go to pattaya ? Any idea of the prices ?
Thanks.

You're at the right place here Johan, prices are a few pages back I think. Barry will take care of you re: ticketing, pick-up, drop-off on return etc.Johan wrote:Hi,

Hi Johan
The ferry leaves from Mermaid Cruises Marina, which you know quite well as you've already been here a few times.
We are the service providers on this side with regard to docking, transport and ticketing.
We are currently relocating our booking office in Hua Hin and are presently taking bookings by phone or email (see below).
We will shortly have a web page on HHAD with all the details.
The ferry service runs Wednesday, Friday and Sunday - leaving Pattaya (Ocean Marina) at 8.30 a.m.
The return crossing from our marina leaves on the same days at 12.30 p.m.
Pick-up from Hua Hin clock tower at 11.30 a.m.
The cost is THB 1500 one way per pax, 2900 return, with special rates for families and group of +10 persons.
Transfers on both sides plus tea/coffee/water and a sandwich onboard are included in the price.
If you need any more information, please contact me as below or post the question here.
Re: Pattaya > < Hua Hin

Hello
I see the on-line booking if off line right now , very interested in this service and would very much like to know if
1. It is still going well?
2. Is the service all year round , understand if have bad weather it may not happen?
3. Would like to know how the general crossing is like, choppy , smooth , enjoyable, boat looks great , says it takes just over 3 hours, Anyone been and can give any advice on what can be seen on the trip if there are any interest points to be seen.
4. How far advance can you book? Would like to go in April , which may well be a busy time as this is Thai New Year. Does the time table change if the tide changes ?
5. where is the dock and how are is it from the clock tower, I guess the price is a place to place service , i.e no more cost until you get to the destination point.
6. What in the sandwich, please can I order Tuna ?
Thanks for the information

Re: Pattaya > < Hua Hin
Hey Barry, like Martin I'm having trouble with your online booking page. Is everything still up and running with the ferry?
I'm planning a trip for next week coming up from the South and like the idea of cutting across to Pattaya from Hau Hin.
I'll keep an eye on the forums here and factor it in if I can.

The online booking facility will be restored shortly
1. It is still going well?
Yes, it's going very well thanks - travelled at 50% capacity today, and the service is not yet 3 months old
2. Is the service all year round , understand if have bad weather it may not happen?
Yes, in principle the service is all-year round
3. Would like to know how the general crossing is like, choppy , smooth , enjoyable, boat looks great , says it takes just over 3 hours, Anyone been and can give any advice on what can be seen on the trip if there are any interest points to be seen.
The crossing varies between smooth and choppy - this can change within a crossing, of course. If it's rough, the ferry doesn't go - simple as that. I've done the crossing a few times and find it very enjoyable and relaxing. There aren't really any sights to see during the crossing
4. How far advance can you book? Would like to go in April , which may well be a busy time as this is Thai New Year. Does the time table change if the tide changes ?
Booking isn't a problem - a couple of days in advance is sufficient at present
5. where is the dock and how are is it from the clock tower, I guess the price is a place to place service , i.e no more cost until you get to the destination point.
The dock is at Paknampran - 20 minute drive from the Clock Tower. Yes, the price includes minibus transfer on both sides
6. What in the sandwich, please can I order Tuna ?
If you book, I will personally ensure that you get a tuna sandwich

Barry,
Good to see that your service is successful. We will be needing to use the ferry on the 16th of March to travel from Pattaya to Hua Hin. Look forward to giving you some business and we will send an email once we arrive in Pattaya and get settled so we can book this trip with you. We will also be traveling back to Pattaya but not sure on the date for that yet.
Take care,
Tony and Tina

NEWS
The ferry will unfortunately not be able to operate on Wednesday 16 and Friday 18 March 2011 because of high winds and waves - winds of up to more than 20 knots have been forecast for the next 3 days so it's certainly not boating weather.
We expect the boat to resume the normal schedule on Monday, 20 March.
For any further details, post here or contact me by phone or mail.
