There is nothing conclusive.
Introduction: SARS-CoV-2 is the beta-coronavirus responsible for COVID-19. Facemask use has been qualitatively associated with reduced COVID-19 cases, but no study has quantitatively assessed the impact of government mask mandates (MM) on new COVID-19 cases across multiple US States. Data and Methods: We utilized a non-parametric machine-learning algorithm to test the a priori hypothesis that MM were associated with reductions in new COVID-19 cases. Publicly available data were used to analyze new COVID-19 cases from 37 States and the District of Columbia (i.e., "38 States"). We conducted confirmatory All-States and State-Wise analyses, validity analyses [e.g., leave-one-out (LOO) and bootstrap resampling], and covariate analyses. Results: No statistically significant difference in the daily number of new COVID-19 infections was discernible in the All-States analysis.

Nil this research has no backing until is is proven should be ignored.
What is an unrefereed preprint?
Before formal publication in a scholarly journal, scientific and medical articles are traditionally certified by “peer review.” In this process, the journal’s editors take advice from various experts—called “referees”—who have assessed the paper and may identify weaknesses in its assumptions, methods, and conclusions. Typically a journal will only publish an article once the editors are satisfied that the authors have addressed referees’ concerns and that the data presented support the conclusions drawn in the paper.
Because this process can be lengthy, authors use the medRxiv service to make their manuscripts available as “preprints” before certification by peer review, allowing
other scientists to see, discuss, and comment on the findings immediately. Readers should therefore be aware that articles on medRxiv have not been finalized by authors, might contain errors, and report information that has not yet been accepted or endorsed in any way by the scientific or medical community.
We also urge journalists and other individuals who report on medical research to the general public to consider this when discussing work that appears on medRxiv preprints and emphasize it has yet to be evaluated by the medical community and the information presented may be erroneous.

I'm getting bored now. It's been hammered by studies and scientific experiments around the globe. It's accepted by the majority of scientists that mask wearing is effective in slowing the spread of covid.
I'm not going to comment further.

If you want to wear a mask wear a mask, if you don't want to wear a mask, don't wear a mask but stay away from other humans.

GOV’T TO SPEND NEARLY 3 BIL. BAHT TO RESERVE CORONAVIRUS VACCINES
The government is placing a reservation for coronavirus vaccines in order to procure them as soon as they are available, a health official said Monday.
National Vaccine Institute director Nakorn Premsri told reporters that a fund of 2.9 billion baht will be solely spent on an advance purchase order for the 60 million doses of the vaccine. It will cost another 20 billion to actually buy them.
“We have to reserve the vaccines in order to make them available in Thailand by 2021,” Nakorn said. “The budget we proposed is only what we agreed on principle since we don’t know the exact price of the vaccine yet.”
Nakorn said the doses are expected to cover 50 percent of the country’s population, or about 33 million people. The institute is negotiating with worldwide pharmaceutical companies to strike a deal by the end of October before submitting the plan to the Cabinet, he added.

You can safely wager a huge sum that farangs will be charged the earth if they want one in Thailand.

Yes, I've been wondering about that.

Alternatively, they could use
all of the 60 million vaccines to cover 90% of the population...

I think I read somewhere that at least 2 shots are required for at least some of the candidate vaccines..

Predictable response from you.
However, I will say that the one time I took a 'flu shot, I was very ill for a week.
Unfortunately, Euro, there are still many places in the world where vaccines are required if you aim to visit. In those cases, you have no option.

The normal flu jab is egg based, so as an egg allergy sufferer, I can't take the annual flu jab. I'm hoping the covid vaccine will be okay for me.

Are you allergic to genetically modified chimp viruses? Because that's the delivery of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. It injects DNA into your cells. The Moderna messenger RNA vaccine uses a similar method of provoking an immune response. These are new types of vaccine tech (well, they have been in development for up to 30 years but have never produced a human vaccine). What these do is make your own cells produce the spike protein of SARS-COV-2 which your immune system is then supposed to recognise and build immunity. How fortunate there is a global pandemic where all the investment in these can finally be rewarded.

Nil, is there an approach to Covid-19 prevention/suppression that you approve of? Do you think it should be left to pursue its 'natural' course? Do you believe Covid-19 is a serious problem? Do you think there is some global conspiracy at work here?
These questions are not intended to be antagonistic, I'm genuinely interested to know where you are coming from on this whole issue.
