Football (not Premier League)

A picture paints a 1000 words - Football match stats do similar!!

Possibly another example of a good player not making a good manager?

Yes, I put the match on as soon as I got back from Ratchaburi last night. Plymouth were as bad as the stats show. However, I will give it a couple of months before I scream for his head. It is not uncommon for Plymouth Argyle with their limited finances to struggle for a couple of games before filling vital gaps with loanees. I am still hopeful that can be done this season.

Probably a concept many armchair Premier League supporters will not comprehend, but it is very common in the lower leagues.

^ Getting to look more like Shrek every day - perhaps he's more given to the name "Donkey" though. :D

I realise I have very limited knowledge of the so called "Beautiful Game" (still Wendyball to me - sorry), but he's an utterly crap manager - don't the "stats" that so many love show that?

No doubt a cracking player - I remember the news, the hype and the goals when he moved to Manure as a teenager. But "Football" is pretty much littered with great stars that have flopped (to be polite).

Now I've said that, I truly hope Bellamy can do good things for Wales :thumb:

I know his history, and the world really wants him to fail. However, as I've said, he is a small cog in a very big wheel. I am still putting my head in the sand and hoping the rest of the management team will ease him into management properly. However, neither am I stupid, I accept with his past record, the writing is probably on the wall.

I disagree that he’s a “small cog in a big wheel” - although all clubs have varying degrees of support to help, the manager/coach has such an influential impact on how the team plays, it surely has far greater “weighting” than the other elements - that’s why it’s invariably the manager that gets the push when things go wrong!!

Time will tell, but apart from Southgate's apprentice, responsibility for failure is shared by all at Plymouth. After almost coming a cropper after the Japanese sugar daddy walked, the Plymouth approach to management is quite unique.

The big man now has his first Plymouth Argyle victory under his belt.

The mystery of why Plymouth Argyle hired Wayne Rooney has now been revealed.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Plymouth director of football Neil Dewsnip explained the question that led to the appointment.

He said: “This is a coup — it isn’t a gamble. We have done our research and Wayne was selected after a thorough process as the best candidate.

“He was asked during his interview in May about relationships and dealing with staff. The chairman asked him what members of staff he knew at Derby outside the football set-up, and straightaway he told him the name of a groundsman and the laundry lady.

“He’s got great people skills and that’s important to us.”

A Hull win on Saturday should be a no brainer. But I think Plymouth want to repeat the victory they achieved at the end of last season. Not sure if Hull hold a grudge, no reason for it as Plymouth's win didn't change Hull's ranking. Soooo, I'll pick PA.

Last night saw Plymouth make a few changes from Sunday. OK, it was only Cheltenham. Hopefully that was the boost they needed to kick-start their season.

Another good win for Wednesday last night, against a Hull side who are no mugs themselves.

What an interesting short time lapse video showing what went on during the close season at Home Park, and many other football league stadiums in the UK. What an incredible amount of planning that must go into close season events at UK football stadia, and the miracle of being ready for the new season. Amazing.

The details of this will no doubt come out in good time, but came as a bit of surprise - I’d always thought of Jermaine Jenas as a nice guy, so can’t imagine what he might have done?
