The missing link? Lamps. I have no idea where he was meant to be playing tonight and seemingly, neither did he?
centre midfield where he plays for his club
he just doesn't do it for england like he does for chelsk & he's contributed very little in the two games so far. :|

the fact that gerrard is pushed out left to accomodate him & barry is just poor management :?
gerrard was the best player v usa (in the middle) & provided what little spark we had tonight when he drifted inside.
total waste of talent out wide :|

why on earth joe cole hasn't featured so far is a complete an utter mystery.
i would have had him starting both games :|

but hey! one things for sure, we can't play any worse  :D
roll on weds, i'm confident we'll steamroller slovenia & march on into the knockout stages along with the yanks

It sure isn't unthinkable anymore! This game against Algeria was pathetic!

I have no clue BB what they meant by that. I haven't seen a NA soccer match in ages. I don't know if they do shoot out's if tied or not? Even so, the above statement puzzles me as well. Maybe TT knows? Pete

Agree with what's been said about the England game, that was complete and utter garbage last night.

Yes, Let's hope England or Algeria don't make it to the next stage. Who wants to watch shit like that!

I don't like Cricket - it bores me - there is something wrong with a game that has at least 3 different 'formats' to make it interesting - for me, it's like watching paint dry.

The England Football Team are beginning to have the same effect on me.

What a bunch of overpaid tossers :cuss:

The English Premier League might me the best in the World - but I am now convinced that it is not because of the English players. :banghead:

I'm not religious either

But I might be tempted to go see a monk if I were at home right now :duck:

That was probably the worst performance I have seen in the tournament ... England does not deserve to go any further.

Lots of Algerians on holiday here, driving up and down, waving flags and beeping horns, it`s their world cup final!

So, was he expecting the English support who have each paid thousands of pounds to be there, to applaud that display?

I really hope Slovenia beat england as we dont deserve to go through.

The USA on the other hand played a blinding game and should have won imho.

Capello should dissapear as should most of our players. They were woeful to say the least.

The Major Soccer League in the USA is probably on the same level as the 2nd division league in England. If the USA had to rely on the players who play in the MSL than they would never had made it to the World Cup. We are far from the NASL (North American Soccer League) and the New York Cosmos era. However, the NASL was only better because of the star foreign players like Pele, Beckenbauer, Neeskens, Best, Banks, etc., and not because of the local "talent." Football ("soccer" here) is far behind the American football, basketball, baseball and ice hockey in popularity. Heck, we have adopted the FIFA rules only a couple of years ago!

as bad as the performance was last night & it was woeful  :( , it will all be forgotten about if we beat slovenia on weds :|

it shouldn't need any rousing team talk because the motivation is already there, win, otherwise you're on the plane home :? :(

what it does need though is the right team selection & key players to up their game & perform :|

From what I've seen so far, it's the selection of a few key players that is the problem. Green made one mistake and was out. How many outfield mistakes have been made?

These prima donna key players need to learn that they're not bulletproof.

just seen the USA disallowed goal v slovenia

whilst the ball is sailing into the box, there must be 5 fouls occuring at the same time  :?
not one of them is being committed by an american
awful decision by the ref :|

still, i think they'll beat algeria & progress (with england of course! )
