I'm watching Prayut's speech on TV. He's a sick man. He looks like a panda with very black rings around his eyes.

Thailand says no nationwide lockdown yet; 58 new local infections in past 24 hours
Thailand’s government said on Thursday that it had discovered 67 new coronavirus cases outside of migrant dormitories with 58 local infections and 8 cases inside state quarantine.

The government said that the number of cases inside migrant dormitories had risen to 1,273 cases.

Despite the increasing number of cases, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha told the nation that the government was still not ordering a nationwide lockdown and was instead dividing the nation into administrative zones.

Prayut said that the Ministry of Public Health reaffirmed to him that it can still control the situation but added that the government needed the public’s cooperation.

The public must be responsible to keep the numbers down, Prayut said.

Administrative zones
The government, according to spokesman Dr Thaweesin Visanuyothin, said that they would be dividing the country into four types of zones and the public response measures will depend on which zones the provinces are located in.

The four areas are, in descending order of severity, as follows :

Highly controlled area (many cases in multiple areas)
Controlled area (over ten cases with the likelihood to increase)
The highly monitored area (less than ten cases)
Monitored area (no cases)

The government said that it would keep factories and agricultural industries running as long as possible to minimize the second wave’s impact on the economy. However, this was subject to change depending on the situation.

The government also said that all information would be centralized under the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration as the press have been reporting unverified facts and spreading panic.

New Years
For new years’ celebration, all celebrations are canceled in highly controlled areas except for online celebrations.

Controlled areas can have limited private celebrations with limited participants.

Highly monitored areas and monitored areas can have celebrations but parties must be smaller than normal and observer social distancing.

And that was the head (or fairly high up anyway) of Dan Singkhorn customs. He apparently went to an opening ceremony of some sort in Bang Saphan while infectious, eating and talking without masks including with the PKK governor.

Why am I not surprised at these news. I thought, it were the Thais who employed them.
"Wherever you see Myanmar people, shoot them down," read one Thai comment on YouTube after a surge of coronavirus cases among workers from Myanmar.

The outbreak, first detected at a seafood market near Bangkok, has prompted a flare-up of such online hate speech as well as questions over the treatment of millions of migrant workers.

"Myanmar people are being labelled for spreading Covid-19, but the virus doesn't discriminate," said Sompong Srakaew of the Labor Protection Network, a Thai group helping migrant workers.

Koh Lanta big bike party turns out to be Covid cluster

https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30400246

The Department of Disease Control (DDC) has revealed a new Covid-19 cluster from a “big-bike party” in Koh Lanta, with around 10 confirmed infections and 129 people at risk.

A Covid-19 patient travelled from Samut Sakhon on December 9 with two friends to attend the Multistrada Thailand Meeting of Ducati bikers on December 11 in Koh Lanta.

There he came in contact with 133 people, 129 of whom are at high risk and four not at such high risk. All these people have been tracked and contacted as the hotel had registered every partygoer.

So far, 10 cases related to this party have been detected, including the initial one from Samut Sakhon.

Four cases have been found in Krabi, one of whom attended the party in Koh Lanta and then transmitted the virus to his wife, daughter and relative.

One partygoer transmitted the virus to his two sons in Phuket, while two infections were recorded in Songkhla, as one of the big bikers transmitted the virus to his younger sister.

DDC has called on authorities in each province to look out for people who may have attended the Koh Lanta party and passed the infection on to others.

Exactly, many are smuggled here to be abused as slave labour. Many are victims. It is the people smugglers they should be targeting.

....."The current method of inserting a swab into the nose to get a fluid sample will be replaced by taking blood samples from people, the governor said, adding that results from the new method come back in 30 minutes and costs are cheaper.".....

Well, let's use it for everyone from now on then and trash the nasal swab method.

Note: Perhaps a step in the right direction to immediately determine if a person is carrying live or dead virus.

Rapid tests for Samut Sakhon

According to this report (https://www.matichon.co.th/local/qualit ... ws_2502437), in Thai, the hospital mentioned is offering 1000 people the chance to reserve the moderna vaccine for a non-refundable deposit of 4,000 baht per person. The actual price may be between 6,000 - 10,000 baht. Delivery in October next year. The reservation web page is now closed, so those of you who would have jumped at the chance are too late. I expect there will be more opportunities from other private hospitals though.

I'm assuming Thailand are openly manipulating their numbers now. Reported today that there were 121 new cases, including 18 migrant workers. Worldometers is showing 103 for today :?

The actual price may be between 6,000 - 10,000 baht.
On Sunday, Moderna CEO Stephen Bancel told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag that the company will charge governments between $10 and $50 per dose.
That's a maximum price to the Thai government of 1,500 baht per dose!

Many governments are giving the vaccine FREE to their citizens!!
