If the Thai Gov't are serious about presenting Thailand as squeaky 'Covid' clean, surely they should be making the vaccine very affordable, rather than pricing it out of reach. Unlike testing, where blanket testing might have revealed something they didn't want to know, the knowledge that the nation has been 100% vaccinated would surely give the required warm feeling to potential visitors.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I will not be paying stupid money for a vaccination. If everybody around me has been vaccinated, who will I catch it from? I will happily pay a sensible price.

Exactly - pay the cost price if they’re not going to give it for free (I’m sure that for farangs it will never be free), but don’t mark it up!!

To be fair, the Thai government need to fill the coffers for those important things in life - like purchasing the odd submarine or heading for the moon....

Seriously, what percentage of the population are they expecting to pay that rate (or any rate for that matter) for the vaccine?

It's a private hospital trying this on, not the government. So it's probably a bit early to slag the government about this. Maybe later.

I got sucked in as well. You're quite right HHinner, this is an offer from a private hospital. Let's wait and see what the government's take on this is.

Vaccination centres are planned to be set up in more than 10,000 sub districts which will prevent overcrowding at hospitals. Medical staff, young children, elderly people and vulnerable groups will be first in line for the injections. The vaccinations will be free of charge at government facilities while private hospitals can purchase their own supply, according to DDC director-general Opas Karnkawinpong.

From what I've experienced, the Thai Health System is very generous to Thai citizens. Just one of Mrs BB's tablets used to cost me 100฿/day, but since we found how good Hua Hin Hospital is, she doesn't pay a single Baht. It beats NHS by a long way.

I don't think Thais will pay.

My wife tells me that on the news she heard that the private hospital charging bht4000 + for a covid vaccine have had their web site closed by the Govt and been told that it is illegal to make such offers etc etc
So I think we have seen the last of this happening again

Well! That's embarrassing for the hospital. But will it be able to do it after the vaccine is approved?

The Astra Zeneca vaccine will hopefully be given UK approval in days with updates test results. Astra has stated it will provide it at cost (expected to be about GBP 3 for each of the two doses required).

Astra believe they have found the winning formula.

It is planned to produce the vaccine in Thailand for SE Asia under license from Astra.

It does not requires to frozen, only kept in a fridge.

It seems that this is the one for Thailand.

If the Thai Government or any other government or organisation decided to make excessive profits from it they should be dammed by the world.

The cost must be kept to a minimum or we will see the criminal element issuing counterfeit virus Certificates.

Thai's (& SE Asians working in Thailand should be given it free). As an Expat I would be happy to pay a small fee on top to cover administration fees. Much cheaper than flying back to the UK for a free jab.

In time I expect if you want to return to your home country or travel to a different country governments, airlines & cruise companies will insist on evidence of Vaccination. You may even need proof of vaccine to renew your Visa or Passport.
