I think you have to judge the situation and act according to your circumstances. Admittedly until the last couple of weeks, Covid in Thailand was almost non- existent so there was little need to do more than the standard precautions - wear a mask when going out shopping and wash/sanitise hands on a regular basis and as practical socially distance from others. Since the new outbreaks, it’s sensible to increase your precautions, especially anybody whose categorised as in a vulnerable group - that’s certainly not panicking, it’s very sensible!!

Definitely NOT Covid news, but as you asked here, the Intercontinental have announced the Firework today has been postponed to 7.00 p.m. - 7.30 p.m. according to the strong wind and high wave at the Gulf of Thailand.
I would guess by the racket earlier, they brought the display forward

All schools in prachuab (including black mountain) are closed from 4th Jan to 17th Jan.
Bit late notice for teachers to arrange online teaching.

I believe it's because we have a long border with Myanmar. Similarly all districts adjacent to Samut Sakhon are classified as the most dangerous regardless of the number of cases.

That has always been a danger since day 1 of Covid. Why does it necessitate school closures now? Will closing schools seal the border? I'm sorry but I don't see the reaction is not justified by the cause.

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has ordered districts in the province to set up checkpoints on the routes that connect Bangkok to other provinces in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19 during the New Year holidays.
Three districts in Bangkok were declared maximum control zones on Friday after Thailand recorded 279 new cases of Covid-19 and two deaths – one in the capital.
Nong Kheam, Bang Plad and Bang Khun Thian districts were placed under maximum controls, said Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA) spokesman Pongsakorn Kwanmuang.Meanwhile, the closure of Bangkok public schools has been extended for another two weeks until January 17.The Bangkok Communicable Disease Prevention Committee has ordered the following venues to close across the whole city from Saturday: schools, children's playgrounds, tutorial centres, nurseries, water theme parks, parks, game kiosks, snooker halls, cockfighting rings, bullfighting rings, amulet centres, tattoo shops, internet cafes, martial arts schools, boxing rings, massage parlours, and banquet rooms.
On Saturday, the BMA will meet with the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration to discuss its plan to ban eat-in food services at shops and restaurants. This measure is expected to be imposed from Monday (January 4), meaning only take-home food will be available.
25 businesses to close from Saturday in BKK
The 25 places are:
1. Entertainment venues such as pubs, bars
2. Theme parks, water parks
3. Children’s playgrounds
4. Snooker halls
5. Game kiosks
6. Internet cafes
7. Cockfighting rings
8. Nurseries and nursing homes for elders
9. Boxing rings
10. Martial art schools
11. Horse racetracks
12. Public shower rooms
13. Massage parlours
14. All types of sport stadiums
15. Banquet rooms
16. Bullfighting and fish fighting rings
17. Amulet centres
18. Pre-school children development centres
19. Beauty parlours and tattoo shops
20. Fitness centres
21. Boxing gyms
22. Spa, traditional Thai massage centres
23. Bowling lanes, skating and rollerblade rinks
24. Dancing schools
25. Tutorial centres and all types of educational institutions
Has there been a change to the governor's order closing bars. I ask because I've just spent the afternoon in Manee's which was filling up as people became aware it's open.
"How are you able to open?" I asked. "The police said it's okay!"
At least 2 police on motorbikes passed whilst I was there and didn't look surprised.

As with day 1 of the current farce, I drove past a bar at 9:30 and breakfast had been served in a tall green bottle, nicely seated in a condom. So some places seem to be open.
As for changes in the order, I am constantly scanning the net, and have seen nothing.

The official web page with the governor's orders has not been updated yet. These new red zones are only under consideration by the ccsa (according to the briefing today) and it will be up to provincial governors what to decide (head of ccsa is the pm, so would a governor disagree?).
