Must be the taste;

Once was bloke called Suarez
Who fancied some nice Tortellini
But he'd run out of meat
& wanted to eat
So he had it with poor Chiellini

When you get bitten it does really hurt. I think both Ivanovic and the Italian reacted in the same way, twisting their bodies to get him off them. The way they reacted to his bite is virtually identical (as highlighted on TV last night) , both then immediately got up to complain to the referee. I think it takes to a few seconds to register what has happened.

Either way the Uruguay attack will be a bit toothless in their next match...........

Plenty more of Suarez jibes around - here's a few to share:

Luis Suarez has today left Liverpool to join Borussia Munchon-a-centreback

The Uruguay attack will certainly lack bite in their next match. Will they have the appetite to win it?

I've just watched the Ivanovic bite on Sky News, and he was bundled over. IMO not identical at all.

Please don't get me wrong. I'm not condoning the bite. I agree, its very girly and should be punished. However, the punishment should fit the crime. Yes, he's a repeat offender, and probably needs help, but we've all seen worse things happen on the football pitch. Because he's got a track record the punishment should be harder, but it shouldn't be career ending.

What I'm saying is that the Italian was obviously goading Suarez in an attempt to get him sent off. I hate that kind of gamesmanship, and I'm delighted Suarez didn't go. I think the Italian got what was coming to him, and his cheating didn't work.

It now seems such a shame that such a talent could be lost to the game. People are bandying a ban of up to 2 years about. To me it is outrageous one professional trying to end another professional's career like this. A bite on the shoulder hurts, but I still don't believe it would make an international footballer's legs collapse beneath him. He didn't even break the skin.

The Italians have cheated for as long as I can remember. I remember the 1970 finals where England were afraid to play them because they would be spat at (very girly again). However, they are known cheats, so they get away with it.

As to the above you seem to forget that 1000s of other professionals get goaded but they dont repeatedly bite the opposition in retaliation. Your logic makes no sense. The guy has a problem and regardless of his talent he has an insatiable appetite in sinking his teeth on to the flesh of opposition players, he needs to be heavily penalised, may be even sectioned under the mental health act. Football or any sport is not the place for that behaviour, in fact there is no place anywhere for that behaviour.

What do parents do to biting kids?, Slap them, bite them back or put them on the naughty step for say, two years.

An English club rugby player accepted a 80-week ban in 2008 for an incident that left an opponent with "a partial amputation of the right index finger."

OK, somewhat more horrific, but a decent ban none-the-less. Also remembering it's 80 weeks of rugby, i.e. only during the season...

A few more interesting 'nibbles" here: - http://mentalfloss.com/article/31047/12 ... ts-history

It has no place in sport or anywhere else for that matter. At the end of the day, it's common assault/ABH.

Is this the 3rd time now for Suarez? The guys a nutter - to me it's a criminal waste of talent, let alone anything else.

France can't score on a 10 man Equador team...and that 10 man side was for most of the second half! :banghead:

Well, it's obviously time for me to bow out of the Suarez debate. I've seen much worse things happen on a football pitch than a peck on the shoulder - often never punished even though there's video evidence. How many 2 year bans have we seen for a spiteful, potentially career ending professional foul?

I wonder if somebody with no talent had done it, would there have been such an outcry.

It sees to me that if you try to maim somebody with a spiteful kick, it's considered part of the game, and may lead to you sitting out the rest of the game in the dugout. A peck on the shoulder (I'm not condoning it) - ban the guy for 2 years :? Where is the consistency?

Suarez's punishment should be that he must spend another 2 years living in Liverpool.

With football being a contact sport,I think lungeing or two footed tackles are more accepted as being part of the game with appropriate punishments for bad fouls usually being meted out.
Although a Suarez bite comes nowhere near the pain threshold of a Roy Keane crunching tackle,I find it odious the same as spitting, elbowing or attempted gouging.
I'm not saying Suarez should be banned for 2 years or anything like that but maybe a dozen games with the premise he has to undertake behaviour counselling.
Also,it should be pointed out to him in no uncertain terms, that if he does the same again he will face an automatic years ban and be forced to sign a long term contract with Plymouth Argyle on his return.....if that doesnt sort him out, then nothing will ! :rasta:

After the second bite incident he was asked, but refused to undertake behavior counselling.

I think 3 strikes and you're out seems appropriate.

Perhaps Liverpool is not the best place to work on your anger management problems.
