The Gorge (2025) is good. Horror/Sci-fi with some big names involved. Really enjoyed it 8/10.

An old one but i watched Eden Lake (2008) yesterday and it's one of the darkest horror/thrillers i think I've ever seen. A British movie (plus Michael Fassbender) this one leaves a moment of 'what the bloody fk' by the end.
Good stuff

Putting this here for buksida, because he likes a decent Western. I've really enjoyed Place of Bones this evening. A totally unexpected twist at the end as well.

For interest. Not your "Run of the Mill Top 10", but certainly some movies I've not seen but I'll be looking out for - Sinners appeals to me!!

I've read the latest Tom Hardy, Havoc is a disappointment. Just end to end gore and violence with almost no plot at all. It's a shame if that's correct because he's a good actor, and so is Timothy Oliphant who also stars in it.
Has anyone seen it and can comment?

/\ Gave up on Havoc after about 20 minutes. Not a movie but Tom Hardy is superb in Mobland.
Mob Cops is also a decent movie.

Re: The Recommended Movies Thread
Thanks. Excerpts from the UK Telegraph today (Robbie Collin - Chief Film Critic):
Ultra-violence has its admirers, I’m one of them.
Tom Hardy’s new film Havoc and the John Wick franchise revel in extravagant nastiness – but they’re part of a distinguished tradition.
The vibe throughout is pure 1980s John Woo: the plot is clean and pared-down; the characters all drawn from the well of heroic bloodshed archetypes.
A stickler might argue – not wrongly – that Havoc is ultimately a handful of astonishing set-pieces, linked by interludes of Hardy growling and ambling around. But as Howard Hawks once pointed out, all a good movie needs is three great scenes and no bad ones. And if greatness, for you, is found in violence so wild it makes your jaw loll open like a discarded Muppet’s – well, Havoc ably meets the standard.
It appears Netflix is wooing the demographic that wants to see Tom Hardy shoot a young woman through the head with a harpoon. Such is one of countless nasty incidents in Havoc.
Etc....

Just finished Companion (2025). Been meaning to get round to it for a while, good reviews...
Great stuff! A slightly different take on an oft used theme. Well worth a watch if you haven't got round to it yet.
