I've just driven from Ratchaburi in some of the worst conditions I've known. I joked as we approached the airport bridge that it would be fine on the other side - it was :?

All passed by now.
Radar at the moment at 0215 hours shows more coming down from the north towards Hua Hin. You could get wet before too long.

Still waiting! Wish we had rain on 112 so I could have a rest from watering the garden!

Where we live, one of the fiercest storms since I’ve lived here - not the longest, but very intense. Very strong swirling winds with rain that managed to penetrate through the windows and door - in total about 5-6 cms looking at the swimming pool this morning. The garden was strewn with leaves and other debris.

Woken during the night to a strange grinding noise.
Bit of investigation and found balcony furniture being blown about and rain was coming in nearly horizontally. Never had seen it like that before. Great bit of rain tho.

Haven't had anything here on the beach since I've been back, and long before from what I'm told. Just in to our town and had a little quick burst of rain but when I got back to the beach, nothing. It's the brownest I've seen here.

Oh well couple months and I'll be wishing the rain will stop.

From heatwave and drought to flooding just like that.

Nereus, I think you're a believer that those bands have to be tighter together before one can say the monsoon is here. They don't look very tight to me at present.....

Yes, there is nowhere near enough wind gradient to start calling it a Monsoon. There is also still a big high pressure area over China blocking any build up of SW winds. Westerly winds at the surface and very confused pressure patterns at higher altitudes.

In any case, the SW Monsoon has to establish in India before it arrives in Thailand. That is not predicted to happen until into June:

Forecast of the Onset Date of Southwest Monsoon - 2019 over Kerala

https://reliefweb.int/report/india/fore ... ver-kerala

3. Forecast for the 2019 Monsoon Onset over Kerala

This year, the statistical model forecast suggests that the monsoon onset over Kerala is likely to be slightly delayed. The southwest monsoon onset is likely to set over Kerala on 6 th June with a model error of ± 4 days.
