The reasoning behind my OP was and still is that the traffic lunacy round the bintablok seems to be getting worse at the same time the tourist dynamic here is changing.
It seems to me as a long term observer that we are now getting significantly more families with kids and babies in town. I have also seen a fair few more disabled people round the block in wheelchairs, and there are a constant supply of elderly tourists. These add to the normal pedestrian hazard.....drunk wobbly farang blokes.
Ive seen countless instances where kids were dragged out of the way at the last minute of speeding mopeds or slow rolling suvs and cars. last week i saw a car play slow motion chicken with a guy in a wheelchair, making HIM move out of the way by being lifted into the front of a bar.
im pretty nimble on my feet, and even i have to skip out of the way and dodge the traffic on he roads.....for someone less nimble that is a pain and a risk. For a small kid that could be lethal.
the pavements here are a joke.....i cant walk along any of them in Hua Hin without constantly negotiating around parked mopeds, shop extensions, booths built across the whole pavement, manhole covers that are broken, tree and bush plantations and sodding signs ..... its just not an option for a pushchair or wheelchair.....not to mention the fact they all have high kerbs.
time to close the stable door while the horse is still munching on oats.... or we can carry on and watch it bolt.
