i thought the same until caller put this link up
when you see the constant use of the 'offending' word describing the features, it kind of begs the question,
is it only offensive if white people use the word??
Winky, I do believe you’re missing the point, spastics, cripples and thalidomide’s are not a race and should not be brought into this discussion.
We were talking about paki’s
I personally know blacks (Negros) that call themselves niggers also Pakistanis that call themselves paki’s. When whites do it they make a big commotion about it and claim and get a few quid out of it. If you look at the post above they have their own website.
Some people just love to bitch. Get real and think about it, how could the word paki be offensive? Please tell!
To be honest Bill I’m not the most politically correct person around, but I was brought up in the East Midlands with its large Pakistani population and I wouldn’t use the term “Paki” without expecting to get into a fight.
I appreciate the term was used innocently in the original story, but generally speaking it is a derogatory term in England.
That website mentioned above is US based and perhaps it doesn’t have the same connotations there.
I remember in school using Paki, Joe-Raki and Bacon-Sarnie. We didn't use it in a friendly manner to mates. Most of the time I think it was said to Indians rather than bacon-sarnies which must have had double impact.
I wouldn't say it nowadays to an Indian or Pakistani in person as most wouldn't I believe, I'm sure when a Pakistani walks into your gaff Bill you don't say "would you like a table by the window ya Paki ?" ..... or do you
In Scotland we used to call them Hamiltons, after the football team.
Difference was, half the time the people this was directed at came from nowhere near Pakistan - our local corner shop was run by Egyptians but was universally known as 'the Paki's'. A lot of people, myself included, knew their origin but still continued to call them P's. I was a kid at the time, but still no excuse.
Try calling a Mackem a Geordie and see how you get on.
Thinking about this, someone asked me directions the other day and I replied by telling them to turn right at the paki shop. They were white but didn't flinch. Just thanked me...

It’s already there Bill:
