I'm going to be totally practical here.
I believe that when I die my soul will leave the body. That leaves a body with some possible use to someone else - organs, eyes, skin, etc. I'd rather donate my useable bits to help someone else. Why burn good stuff? Recycle the good bits, and the rest can be used to help medical students. I researched this a short while ago, and can't remember the organisations in Thailand that are really grateful for body donations, but they do exist.
Hey, don't burn something that could save someone's life.

All joking aside it's a great idea, and in many USA States your drivers license indicates if you are a donor.
Here however I doubt in case of accident the authorities would get your remains into the right hands quickly enough before things became unusable, at least for transplant.
If you're terminal and in a hospital bed with them being already aware, it should work.
Having said that, for all the advertising here for 'medical tourism', I can't recall ever seeing anything about transplants. Perhaps the medical skill here to do those type of procedures is lacking? Pete

I agree with HHFarang about religion being a lucrative comfort mechanism. It is pandering to the wishful thinking of the gullible IMO. It is also a major arm of social control. Who will do wrong if for your temporary, short lived action you are promised ETERNAL punishment in a pit of fire? . Never mind the physics of a body (or an immaterial soul) that can burn forever.
What better scam is there than to tell the undereducated that they need someone who went to a religious school and now must be addressed as "Father"(a celibate priest called Father?) to intervene on their behalf in order to get sins forgiven,.(for a price of couse)
My condolences HHF for your upbringing. I know many Baptists and grew up in a Catholic neighborhood. My daughter-in-law had her self confidence crushed by punitive (think sexually frustrated) Nuns in her Catholic school. It will take years of therapy to restore her self esteem.
Myself I would RATHER we are finite. No worries of eternal punishment. Heaven is in your mind.

BaaBaa What's the deal with the image of a mass murderer? Do you KNOW the history of that Christian? We have Hitler worshippers here in the US called "skin heads" who hate all races except the "Superior" aryan white race. If I were you I would not visit the some of the southern states of the US. You might run into a friend of Hitler there.

This is what I want done with my deadmeat. Any vulture who eats my brain is committing suicide as I have a Hep virus. (Pate de Fois Hepatitis?) Likewise I can't donate the meat to science for the same reason ( if Charlesh wasn't being sarcastic by saying Einstein did it, implying I am an "Einstein" in sarcasm)
What better place on the planet to have a funeral than a place that translates literally in English as "headstone"!?

Unfortunately Norm, when stressed the Bonobo monkey screws the nearest family member, be they male, female, Mum, dad, brother or sister.
