Pale skin makes you successful, at least according to an Arab tv advert. Girl with perfectly coloured skin (as far as I can see) gets passed over for lots of job with a tv station. She applies the magic skin whitening cream and hey presto! she gets the top job plus gets to be number one girl of the famous director and lives happily ever after.

A good Thai friend of mine is a senior engineer with EGAT and an excellent low handicap golfer.
So as a consequence he is dark skinned and recently he got married to Hi So lady from Bangkok and I could not believe the amount of make-up he wore to lighten his skin.
I spoke to him a few days after the wedding and he told me that the bride’s parents had insisted on the make-up.

Dozer If your friend did not have the balls to tell the in laws where to go, then I don't pity him and all the years he faces under his wife and her parents rule. :cuss:
Some men leave their gonads at the alter, just to marry a pretty face, on a dumb bird.

That is the equivalent of me wanting to marry a black girl and having to boot polish my face in order to do it.

No f++++++ way.

I agree with you and when he told me all I could do was shake my head.

If he's into golf, neither she or the in-laws will see much of him anyway!

My Missus is dark, she's had people in Tesco talking English to her and surprised when she talked Thai to them.

My little lad is also darker than most luuk kreung, (spends alot of time in the boonies too) especially with me being blonde haired and blue eyed, do I care?

Nah! F**K em all!

There are pale skinned Thais, and there are pale skinned Thais. Some look great, but many look, in my opinion, sickly. Forget what cosmetic companies tell you, and what other profit driven enterprises tell you, because the human body is designed to receive a certain amount of exposure to the sun. Without direct sunlight, it cannot produce one very important vitamin. Yes I know, I have heard about skin cancer. What I find strange though is that my entire family have been sun lovers, and there has never been a single skin cancer case in the family.

I often am amused at just how far many Thais will go in order to keep the sun off their skin.

So, is it light skin or dark skin? I prefer a little bit on the dark side, providing they don't plaster their faces with some ghastly makeup....lol

An observation on this one is that whether they are Thai women or western birds, then they are all chasing that which they are not, which implies that there is a huge level of insecurity abound everywhere.

Western women want double eyelids/tanned skin and be as slim as the average Asian girl because FHM, for example, and other media propergates this as sexy.

Asian women want to be white/fuller figures etc that mirror what they don't have and are percieved as desirable in their culture etc.

It's sadly, a pursuit on both side for that which they are not in an effort to be different and attractive/desirable/recognised. Shame they can't be happy with what they have been given.

I have seen the most smoking hot girls in LOS that I have seen anywhere and they would be considered as modals in the west, only to hear that they are so unhappy with the way they look because they are dark and too slim.

:|

Everyone that thinks like this is chasing rainbows really, brainwashed IMO by the TV/society and especially whilst they were young, sad.

Ironic that we want to look like them and they want to look like us.

Bizarre really, these perceptions have nothing other than a negative effect on the mental stability of all those suseptable to such garbage, which is a lot of them, unfortunately.

We all need a health dose of vitamin D and the sun makes you feel good too.
I really hope when our baby is born in April that the little chap has a nice health looking skin color.
On Thai TV some of these soap actors look like veal carfs in my opinion.

Don't worry about the skin colour kendo - just hope for a healthy baby. My son looks more Thai than the average Thai. He has no shortage of girls either English or Thai queuing up for his services - I reckon he'd give Johan a good run for his money  .

Make sure he's brought up right, and has a good personality - nature will look after the rest.

If somebody is so vain that they have to change their skin colour, IMHO they have a major personality disorder.
