kasikorn send me an sms whenever i take money out of the acct via ATM, or the card is swiped through in a store, or when i use it to buy on line, and a balance sms every morning. Far better than in the West ! SMS normally comes through before the girl in Tesco's or Homepro gives me the receipt to sign....

Pretty sad all round. I obviously need to catch up, as I studiously ignore all sms on the basis that they will be in Thai promoting something I don't want. Anyone I know who needs to tell me something will call me.

not sad, but useful. If your cards are lifted, which you may not be aware of, you will know as soon as they use them. Oh, and one occasion a store in HH rang through the wrong amount. It was only when i looked at the SMS i realised it. The till receipt showed the correct amount. The online system the store was using wasnt storing info correcly, and i became involved for 30 mins with the manager who at my insistence called Kasikorn, who verified the amount, and at which point the manager refunded the difference.

I do take your point, fft, really, and call me old-fashioned, but if you're having lunch with me and constantly answering calls or checking for sms on your mobile then we won't be lunching together very often!

i mentioned what had happened to the wife and she says this is a downside to Thai banks - there are people always watching what's in peoples accounts, as it happened to a relative of hers. Unfortunately they got no closure on the issue and just advised they had been withdrawing the money as shown on the account read-out.
sounded like this sort of thing was organised but who knows....
