IP comparisons are useless in Thailand as the providers work on a dynamic IP system which change the addresses from an IP pool frequently. All we'll glean is the country
I was thinking similar to JimmyG, and think country, or simply 'in Thailand or not', might help a bit. I too think 'rival business, for various reasons, th management and staff at Romantic bar are among the top 3 I have known in 7 years, they go the extra mile in customer hospitality etc. Never forget what they did for 'Gordon' after he died, he was an infrequent regular I believe, nothing more, but what the Thai female management/girls did was touching. Also the farang boss forum member has been a bit critical of a.n.other nearby in recent times, his perogative & maybe unrelated. Plus I can't see any lady spiking just one of their drinks and when they are leaving early doors at 9:30pm... when they're more than likely going on somewhere else... and after having been told 'numerous times' she weren't going anywhere with them. That doesn't stack up.

So if IP is in Thailand then big hole in the 'we were on holiday' part, similarly if not Thailand it 'sort of' leans away from a rival. But not conclusively of course, if I ever thought of doing something seriously daft I would email it to a mate back home to do. So maybe on refelction location is not worth having as could be misleading!?!?

Considering there's nothing at all to corroberate this claim, which OP if true could easily have made possible if reported properly, or taken up with owners at the time, then I think it's an unfair claim and nothing I will take seriously. If someone wants to make a very serious claim and name somewhere, they have to earn the right to do so IMHO. If not just give a general warning about it. People always come on making out they're doing us a favour, they had the chance to do that at the time and chose not to. Thanks but no thanks.

Still think it was a jealousy set up but as dear Old Rod at Lolita's used to say 'bad publicity is publicity after all'

US, I've rarely seen any one quaffing J D's, Perhaps your super efficient staff would have an idea of any likely candidates. Having said that there was a guy in there with a lady sometime last week knocking them for 6 I recall. Not one of your regulars who I guess I know most but certainly knocking them back fast and furious. It's just clicked as not many of us can afford J D's. It's now going to bug me as I'm sure I had a brief chat with him :banghead: :banghead:

Convinced one of your 3 musketeresses will know mate:)

Hope Puy is OK and fully recovered

She's missing your Tyke sweet talk :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: so shift your arse into tractor mode sharpish

Can't say I've been to the bar US, but quite frankly if the intention of the OP as a competitor or simply a vindictive little pr*ck was to damage your business, he's failed miserably. In fact, I think he has in part done you a favour.

From the support you've had on this thread from longtime members of the forum and either residents or (like myself) want-to-be residents of Hua Hin, I will certainly be visiting your bar on my next visit in December.

See you in a few months!!

[EDIT] Not a favour as in me visiting  (although an obvious benefit), I did actually mean several like minded people would now be requesting a pint or 2 at your establishment :D

usual suspect, please take a positive out of this. Usually in these circumstances, the establishment gets a lot of free publicity, and the old addage says, "All publicity is good publicity." Your regulars are already rallying round, giving you their support, and others are following suit. People will remember your bar, long after any potential scandal has been forgotten.

...used to say 'bad publicity is publicity after all'
I usually only go to Billy's, Bernie's, Bobbies, or P&B for a beer, but after reading this thread, I will stop in for a drink soon even though I don't usually frequent that area. Any place where the girls are not pushy for lady drinks or anything else is ok with me (and probably even my wife).

See you soon Usual Suspect.

I'm a bit late on this one... but see Romantic Bar as my local when in HH! The 1st and usually the last bar I visit on my trip. Puy and the girls do a great job as can be evidenced by the stable core of staff and customers. The Story has so many holes in it, no one can take it seriously.

My experience (friends) tell me Stella makes you pee in wardrobes!

I'll still be supporting my favorite bar
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!

The story is a load of shaft, i remember when i thought i had been spiked whilst going out for a meal in ibiza one evening and had to cut my night very short, i was delirious and had lost all comprehension, only thing close was when id had a bad disco biscuit, so as i was slavouring off and talking jibberish on my way back to the hotel trying to work out which toerag had spiked me, the ex woofe reminded me that I had been drinking cheap pina colada at the all inclusive since we arrived 2 days earlier without drinking any water, 2 hours and 2 litres of water later I was right as rain, it was dehydration, i didnt piss in the wardrobe.

Afterwards had a good laugh about it and went back out, i did not then try and blame the hotel for serving me the pina colada or tell the other guests that the hotel was to blame.

The guy is a knob and to say he was spiked by the staff in a certain bar is wrong, its as bad as saying he was sold drugs.

Its obviously because its a busy and good bar

Drink spiking normally happens back in hotel rooms and from reading an online paper from across the gulf for many years it does happen a lot in Pattaya, picking free lancers up off the beach or lady's of the second catagory :D you are asking for trouble, also a fair amount of indians get mugged off.

My mate that got done it was in the middle of the day went to a bar got chatting to a girl, having a great time phone rings then my mate was having a drink with 3 of her male friends that turned up went to the loo come back 10 minutes later felt dizzy started spinning out went out side got hit tried to hit back but could not woke up in hospital minus his passport and all his money only arrived that morning, had to get a loan from the embassy he told me " get robbed in Bangkok and loose everything you will feel very vunrable" i would not have wanted to be in his shoes

Now regarding the Romantic Bar the open poster set his stall out trying to damage this bars rep how about a responce now, as i think it's a load of rubbish, and an own goal if you are another bar owner, because there is a lot of good people around that will support this well run bar a real testament to the owner and his wife.

Now if you really do have an issue here go and meet the owners i am sure they will travel down from the north to meet you.

Now when i was in there with Richard the food critic  his friends from Jersey and my wife who was six months pregnant, he was really respected like an old piece of the furniture never had to ask for anything good service all round and made to feel very welcome.

Kendo.

[quote="JimmyGreaves"]We need a Cyber Detective,

A literary detective would have fun with the PK67 post and could work out a nice profile. Seems to be an Australian by phrases he uses.
He is clearly a previous client of the bar as he says: ‘the resident girl was as always was very friendly'.

From one web site:
Many people assume that drinks get spiked with drugs, but alcohol is actually the most common way to spike drinks. Drink spikers either add alcohol to non-alcoholic drinks or add extra shots of spirits to alcoholic drinks. This makes your drinks far stronger than you think!
