i just got back from si racha, its about 1 hour from bangkok ,we went to the cinema there and all the foreign movies were original soundtrack ! no dubbing bullsxxt ....

this is a city with hardly any farangs in it , more japanese tourist than western tourist

here we have HH lots of toutists but barely any soundtrack movies

its just bizzare why anyone would want to watch a movie with stupid voice overs

if i was in the uk for instance i wouldnt want to watch a french film with english dubbing ...

oh well !

Damn, Damn, Damn :cuss:

Skyfall is being shown in Thai only :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Every time I've been to the cinema in Hua Hin, they show the trailers in English (building up hopes), then when the time comes, it is only shown in Thai :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Here is the thing.
I enjoy watching movies in a movie house and going for a snack and a drink afterwards BUT a large number of retired expats prefer to download movies from the net and watch them at home==it is sad but there are not many farangs who are interested in going to see movies at movie theatres.

To each his own. If the acting is first rate, I prefer subtitles so I can hear the actor's emotional nuance. If the conversations are rapid I prefer dubbed because I'll miss less of the script. If the language grates on my ears then dubbed is the way to go. Finally, if the director features many closeups of a smokin' hot leading lady, I want dubbed so as to not have to take my eyes off her.

they have tried on a few occasions original soundtracks here and it worked, the screening was as busy as it would have been for a thai soundtrack

many Thais also like to watch the original movie as it helps with their english etc

so why oh why ....bbc circa 1982

I'm sure they would get a fair response if they showed something like Skyfall (even for a couple of showings) in English. Instead, their English offering is Looper - I went, and it was one of the more boring movies I've seen. If they bothered to show something that people might want to watch, they just might start getting a decent following.

Regarding the downloads - yes, I've now downloaded loads, but it isn't the same as watching a movie in the cinema. Why do I download so many? Because they don't show them in English in the cinema here.

Went to see Skyfall last week and not that impressed to be honest. I really like Daniel Craig as JB and after having read the rave reviews both 'er indoors and I were looking forward to the film, but apart from the opening chase sequence (which by the way I don't think was anywhere near as good as the one in Casino Royale) the rest was a bit damp. Unfortunately they spent to much time paying homage to previous JB movies and I thought they had slipped too far back into the Roger Moore/Pierce Brosnan tongue in cheek style JB, whereas the racier, darker, more brooding JB played out in Casino Royale was a far better character IMHO.

I agree about Looper. What a terrible movie. Still I was excited to see my first movie in Hua Hin!! Even if it did suck. I make a run to BKK now and again just to go to Siam Paragon to see a movie. Wish I did not have to do that.

OK, be careful. there are 4 shows a day, but only the 1600 and 2020 showings are in English.
