Rage_715 and Lizzy...............glad to hear you both finally made it here. As I'm sure you can imagine, there'll inevitably be times when you'll ask yourself whether you made the right move or not, but if you hang in there, you eventually just slot in, sometimes too much. :thumb:

A lot of people move to Thailand because they fall in love with the place, but then after a while it gets too much for them and they actually start disliking everything about the country, with even the most trivial things upsetting their lives. I think most of us go through that phase, sometimes more than once, but obviously many of us do recover.

To be honest, I can't say I've ever regretted moving here. My first two or three weeks in Thailand was all I needed to see both the good and the bad, and for me the good side won hands down. These days I even enjoy driving on the roads and actually feel quite safe when doing so. If you can do as many Thais do, and laugh at crazy things rather than get upset, you'll get along just fine. :thumb:

WARNING: Never watch Thai TV, and especially comedies.

Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

Thanks Tapiak.

I'm loving the driving here, matches the driving in London, but with more scooters and less pedestrian rights. We're hoping to slot in somewhere and hopefully find some friends along the way.

I understand what you're saying about accepting the things you initially dislike and growing to like them. It is a huge change from England and although I've lived abroad a few times, nothing fully prepares you for finding rat for sale at the side of the road, roaches under your table or dogs chasing your car.

Sometimes you question the cleanliness of a place and then you see the dozens of people eating there and you join in.

One thing I find funny is car park attendants attempting to 'help' you park by waving you into a space. I suppose they have to feel they're doing something.

Nothing has really pissed me off yet (apart from the husband at times).

Fortunately we have English language channels but a bit miffed we signed up for True just as they've lost the EPL games :banghead:
