I can't see it personally - height above Hua Hin is going to be similar. I guess we'll have to wait for Takiap to post photos next week.

Re: Magic Balloon Park Open
Hi Alex, the HSE here in the UK, insist that any "lifting device" that is used to lift people should be examined at 6 monthly intervals. Yearly inspections are for lifting devices that only lift loads.Balloon Pilot wrote:A couple of questions for the ballon man out of interest
1. What's the highest wind speed you will fly and does that apply to gusts or mean speed.
2. How offen will you be doing a rope examination.
The highest wind I will fly with passengers - 5 m/sek - (we can fly w. 1 passenger in 7 m/s accordings with manual) but practically - 3 m/s (4 w. gusts) is too enouth.
The rope examination is taken in order of guarrantee once in a year, if daily inspection finds no damage, and critical overload doesn't take place.
Alex
These inspections can only be carried out by a "competent person" who is certified to carry out examinations and tests on this sort of equipment.
As the balloon, cable and the ground winch are integral parts of the "lifting equipment" then, they must also be inspected every six months.
If your inspection regime complies to HSE requirements, then I would be happy to take my kid on it.

Insurance is only any good for widows and orphans after an accident and would not pay out if the correct inspections were not carried out.

Good luck with your new venture.

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Alex was actually answering questions posted by the readers of this forum. I would hardly call that self promotion. He didn't even start the thread

Why so angry? If I ran a restaurant and someone asked me what was on my menu, do you think I should be allowed to answer without paying for advertising?sateeb wrote:Lev wrote:Alex, self promotion is not permitted on this forum so please contact us if you wish to market your new business to our 3,500 daily readers.

There must be a line (or two) between recommendations, useful information and taking advantage.

There are fears that this new 'magic balloon' may be taken down as passer bys have deemed it to be inappropriate....

Rumour has it that a local Bintatbaht establishment has also started offering balloon rides...

Re: Magic Balloon Park Open
More miffed than angry. The owner of the balloon has has only responded to questions from posters about safety concerns. he hardly needs to self promote because he has a chuffin great big yellow balloon floating above HH. He had already been politely advised to advertise on this site on a couple of occasions and then Lev jumps in bluntly telling him that self promotion is not permitted. Balloon man has never once mentioned prices or hours of business and I will reiterate that he didn't start this thread.dtaai-maai wrote:Why so angry? Has this Forum become more concerned about advertising revenue than answering members questions about safety?

C'mon, lets get real here. He hardly stumbled across this site by accident, did he? A new thread starts and whoosh, he's straight in here dealing with queries on behalf of his business.sateeb wrote:More miffed than angry. I'm with Sateeb on this, the owner has hardly made any reference to anything other than answer safety questions in response to readers questions - give the guy a break!!caller wrote:C'mon, lets get real here. Re: Magic Balloon Park Open
Perhaps the mods should take a step back and ask themselves who creates the content that brings eyeballs to the site. It's the forum users. We do it for free. Why is our safety less important than some potential ad revenue from a company that has already chosen other forms of marketing?
