another briton murded this time samui
Well the murder of the student continues to be hot news in the UK. With TV reporters in samui, film of the site she stayed at, the beach and pretty distressing interviews with the father and friends. Looks like the newshounds are in for the long term and I'm sure they will pick up on any other incidents.
Talk is cheap
Let's hope they do, find and write.caller wrote: I'm sure they will pick up on any other incidents.
We need some nose around journalists, especially if they can trigger some self-examination among the touristindustry-people who tries to cover up farang killings.
Hopefully Thai authorities must give some answers if the journalists dig deep enough.
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

"Thai cops arrest suspect"
COPS hunting a gang over the sex murder of backpacker Katherine Horton seized a Thai suspect yesterday — and revealed they KNEW the identity of her killer.
The arrested man — a builder working near the Thai beach where the British student’s body was found — was taken to a secret location to be quizzed.
Last night Major General Panya Mamem, commander of the Regional Tourist Police, vowed more arrests were imminent. And he said one of those being sought was known to have killed Katherine.
Four local men are suspected of raping the 21-year-old psychology student on New Year’s Day.
The brutes pounced as she used her mobile to phone Cardiff and speak to her mum Elizabeth — who heard a chilling scream.
Yesterday Katherine’s divorced dad Ian, 55, paid a tearful visit to the beach on the paradise isle of Koh Samui where his daughter was attacked.
He described Katherine as his “little girlâ€

Isn't that the real issue? Its about faith in the respective justice systems and learning from mistakes. The UK does that and wears it on its sleeve - to the sneering of many others, including me.
All you get on this incident from the UK press at least, is that the Thai pm - what's his name? - wants the killer caught quick to lessen the impact on tourism.
I've no doubt therefore, that a killer will be caught.
But will anything change?
Talk is cheap
Yes... the killer is a "fisherman with a boat." He will probably turn out to be a Sea Gypsy, hill tribe migrant or Burmese immigrant.
I saw the Thai detective leading the investigation speaking in good English on tonight's evening news here in the UK. Still a major news item here. He looked under a lot of pressure and seemed genuinely empathetic to the plight of Katherine Horton's family but gave a resigned sigh and answered "we are doing our best" when questioned about the likelihood of catching the killer(s).

Police detain 3 teenagers over tourist murder
Bangkok Post
Police Saturday detained three Surat Thani teenagers in Bangkok for questioning over possible links to the Jan 2 rape and murder of Welsh tourist Katherine Horton on Koh Samui.
The three went missing from the island off Surat Thani after the murder and Crime Suppression Division police followed their trail to the capital before arresting them Saturday.
Their names were not disclosed. Police collected saliva and hair samples from them for DNA tests to determine if they were responsible for the crime.
Police have also arrested a fugitive attempted murder suspect, Sirichai Chanphong, for questioning in connection to the case.
Police also took a British couple who found Horton's cellphone back to Koh Samui from Bangkok Saturday for questioning.
They wanted the Britons to point out the location where they found the phone.
Pol Maj-Gen Assawin Kwanmuang, deputy commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, said telephone records showed Horton made her last call to her mother in Britain between 9.43pm and 10pm on Jan 1, and her mother heard a dog barking and a scream before the line went silent. Horton was raped and killed, and semen was found in her vagina.
Two police teams combing the crime scene found bloodstains and locks of hair in front of a bungalow on Lamai beach, about four kilometres from Thong Krok beach where Horton's body was discovered. Another police team found locks of hair at Ban Bang Rak pier.
Samples of the blood and hair were collected and sent to the police's Institute of Forensic Medicine for DNA tests for comparison with the victim's DNA.
Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has called on the police to solve the case quickly.
