When I’m driving around in Buriram I often get stopped at road blocks and have to produce my passport, I think this is because our house is not so far from the Cambodian border.
I’ve never had to show it in Hua Hin, although it could happen I think the large numbers of holiday makers would make it virtually impossible to enforce.
I always carry a copy everywhere I go, most of the time the police just want to see something official, I have even used airline ID cards before. For a long time I got away with using an out of date international driving license which I re-dated in green ink, and over-stamped with an official stamp from work which actually said “Aircraft released to serviceâ€

Ive been to LOS 6 times and traveled near the border in UBON with many thai people. I have never been checked or even approached by the men in Brown. Does that happen a lot in Hua Hin?
