Sorry didn't took the time to read the whole thread but just wanted to add my two cents on this topic.

First of all, we're in thailand. people tend to forget that. before hordes of foreigners arrived in this part of the world, I doubt they showed movies in english.

second of all, I agree that a movie terribly sucks when it's dubbed. it's not a problem of comprehension as I speak thai but it just isnt the real deal. just like eating a "thai spaghetti." sure it's spaghetti but with an awful taste and lots of sugar.

third, Hi everybody! :)

The Thai authorities and role models for the future generations in Thailand have to understand that English is an official language in over 65 countries around the world. Thai is the official language in only one. If the future generations are to succeed and bring Thailand into the Global Community then English language has to be considered as one of the most important tools.

Incidentally, I've never had a problem with DVD's here as they do of course have a multilingual capability. VCD's can be a problem.

Movies

Post by samlorsam »

I bought Casino Royale last week, at the little narrow shop at the side of the in town supermarket, down the lane between the supermarket and Satukarn square. The quality is excellent, the guy there does a good job and will replace if you are not happy with the quality, 100 bht a movie.

I agree with the idea of the big screen movie at the pub, when I lived in the Phills, one of my locals there used to run a movie every Wednesday evening, with snacks etc it was a change from footie every night.

The Guy next to Bam Bams restuarant is always good to me, telling me if its only 80% quality or whatever if its only an early copy.

The Guys who walk around selling will usually swap for you if qualitys poor.

That is if you remember which one it was if you purchased while out drinking.
