AHHHH, now I get it!!

Congratulations dtaai-maai. One of the better trolls.
We should have known.
There is no such thing as a grown up man not knowing how to measure a computer screen. Good one!
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.

I would think that "tears to the eyes" rather than "giggle" would be appropriate.

For the OP, if you are not doing some part time trolling. I agree with Roel on that one. What you have described is a 17" monitor. The same size used in larger laptops, notebooks and tablets.

Will the person who gets the mail about enlargements please forward it to johnnyk

The way to work out the diagonal, assuming you know the width & height of the screen, is based on pythagorus and easily explained:

There was this Indian chief, and he had three wives. They slept in the same tent. One on a bear skin, one on a buffalo skin and one on a hippopotamus skin.

After a time the three had children. The one that slept on the bear skin had a baby boy, the one on the buffalo skin had a baby girl, and the one on the hippopotamus skin had a baby boy and a baby girl, proving that the squaw on the hippopotamus is equal to the sum of the squaws on the other two hides!!!

This thread has all the hallmarks of being a record breaker. The most unlikely threads have gone on for months.

Can it beat bowel movements and beans on toast.

Perhaps admin have some stats.

I love beans on toast almost as much as I love bowel movements - couldn't we all agree a regular time and place to meet there...? Please?

If the frisbee throwers, dog walkers and book readers find a neatly folded pile of clothes on HH beach, it's only me. I'll have swum to Pattaya to start a new life working for Sunshine desserts.

Not wanting to contribute to this but since the original question has been answered it may well get moved to Foo.

screen

Post by lindosfan1 »

Buksida beg to differ this has not been solved.
The size of the screen is 15in by 12in.
Using Pythagoras theorem 15 x 15 = 225, 12 x12 equals 144
225 + 144 = 369 the square root of 369 is 19.20 inches.
Therefore it is not a 19 inch screen which he was told.
If the diagonal measures 19 inches and the width is 15 and the height is 12 inches. Then it is misshapen and needs to be returned.
Are the corners all right angles IE 90 degrees that would also prove this is mishapen.
Dtaai-Maai
Does this help with your original question. :)

Depends if he wanted a widescreen or not which would indeed be 19 inches diagonally but what you lose in height you'd gain in width!

Also need to take into account the "plastic frame allowance" which differs from manufacturer to manufacturer - this may go some lengths to explain your additional 0.2 inches.

:cuss: Doh... its got me! :munch:
