Not great?Zidane wrote: A win for Arsenal and a draw for Spurs, both not bad results but not great either.

I think I'm happy enough with the 3pts, all things considered.

Sunderland played well and had some good chances, had they taken them at the time it could have been a completely different game.
From looking rudderless and relegation certainties, they look well organised and half decent under Big Sam.

How refreshing to see some of the lesser sides doing so well and getting results they could never have expected at the outset.
Leicester, Stoke, Bournemouth

When you take into account the millions that are spent on players in the Premier League and then the hugely inflated wages they get, the standard of football is way below what it used to be - how many teams play exciting, attacking, free-flowing football.........the answer is none of them, well maybe Leicester excluded!!

What a sad story.....an Arsenal fan for 80 years and a gust of wind blows him into a bus on the way to a match....RIP
Arsenal fan Ernie Crouch, 90, killed in bus accident on way to match
The incident happened near Finchley Central Tube station
Arsenal supporters have paid tribute to a "legendary" 90-year-old fan of the club who died after he was blown by the wind against a bus in north London.
Ernie Crouch is thought to have been caught by a gust and blown off the pavement near Finchley Central station on Saturday.
Emergency services were called, but Mr Crouch died at the scene a short time later.
Fans said he had been on his way to Arsenal's match against Sunderland.
'Since 1934'
Arsenal tweeted: "Everyone at Arsenal Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong fan Ernie Crouch. May he rest in peace."
According to fans on social media, he had supported Arsenal since 1934.
Pat Hale of Arsenal Supporters Club told BBC Radio 5 live: "He travelled to every away game with us and always had his regular front seat.
"It is going to be very upsetting next Sunday morning [Arsenal play Aston Villa away] to get on the bus and he won't be there.
"Football was just his life. He promised his son not to go to any more away games when he turned 90, but last week we saw him at Norwich.
The TV presenter Piers Morgan tweeted: "RIP Ernie Crouch. Followed Arsenal for 80yrs. Died yesterday when high winds blew him into a bus on way to game."

Re: Premier League 2015-2016
We see what's going on in FIFA, and we've seen that famous bookmaker out of Singapore who had a host of players on his payroll to fix games in one way or another. One famous player I can recall was the goalkeeper for Liverpool who I think fixed matches for years. I'm sure there were others that those more knowledgeable than I can comment on.
However, I can not recall ever seeing a case brought against a referee. There must be some, probably in the present as well who haven't been caught out yet.
Perhaps for referees they should demand an asset declaration each year and a bank account check....same as they do for Thai politicians.

I think the Liverpool goalkeeper was Bruce Grobellar (sp), but I believe he was acquitted by a jury but criticised by the judge, perhaps others could elaborate. Where is Baa Baa when you need him.
Re: Premier League 2015-2016
From Wicki:
Match-fixing allegations[edit]
On 10 November 1994,[12] Grobbelaar was accused by the British tabloid newspaper The Sun of match fixing during his time at Liverpool to benefit a betting syndicate, after being caught on videotape discussing match-fixing. He was charged with conspiracy to corrupt, along with the Wimbledon goalkeeper Hans Segers and Aston Villa striker John Fashanu (only recently signed from Wimbledon), and a Malaysian businessman, Heng Suan Lim.
Despite these allegations, Grobbelaar and Segers were allowed to continue playing, while Fashanu retired from playing less than a year after being charged.
Grobbelaar pleaded not guilty, claiming he was only gathering evidence with the intent of taking it to the police. After two successive trials, in both of which the jury could not agree on a verdict, he and his co-defendants were cleared in November 1997. Grobbelaar later sued The Sun for libel and was awarded £85,000. The Sun appealed, and the case was eventually taken to the House of Lords where it was found that, though the specific allegations had not been proved, there was adequate evidence of dishonesty. The Lords slashed his award to £1, the lowest libel damages possible under English law, and ordered him to pay The Sun's legal costs, estimated at £500,000. In his judgement, Lord Bingham of Cornhill observed:
"The tort of defamation protects those whose reputations have been unlawfully injured. It affords little or no protection to those who have, or deserve to have, no reputation deserving of legal protection. Until 9 November 1994 when the newspaper published its first articles about him, the appellant's public reputation was unblemished. But he had in fact acted in a way in which no decent or honest footballer would act and in a way which could, if not exposed and stamped on, undermine the integrity of a game which earns the loyalty and support of millions."[13]
Grobbelaar was unable to pay the costs and was declared bankrupt.
He and Segers did not retire from playing until some time after being cleared of their involvement in the alleged match fixing.

I read a book about his involvement in this by the guy who basically set him up, one of his oldest friends. He had led a pretty colourful life. Can't remember too much about the book, to be honest.

Let's see who leaves first, Van Gaal, or Mourinho? Mohrino has some curse said to always happen in his year 3?, at a club. Van Gaal IMO is just too conservative, as I've found most Dutchmen to be. Pete
