Re: Buying online from Lazada

Post by buksida »

Has anyone bought from individual sellers on Laz? They're not stores but have account names that appear to be a bunch of random letters. If so, how easy is it to claim back if the item doesn't work? Will Laz support the claim or are you left holding your balls in the wind?

Been looking at used graphics cards, which there are loads of on Laz, but there is no guarantee with them so its a bit of a gamble.

From what I've seen (I think I wrote about it when looking for an oxygen concentrator) these guys are no more than middlemen. They will take your order, and then order from elsewhere. I tried a couple until I realised what was going on. I never successfully received an order from them. If you try to talk to them, you rarely get a response. IMHO they should be avoided.

Do they offer a COD option - if so then you could try and see what happens - no delivery, no loss?

Yeah, there was no response from the message I sent. These are used graphics cards so I'm guessing the guy has them already or has a source of them. I just want to know if the damn thing works before I pull the trigger, I won't bother if no COD.

Yes, there is, but in my case time was of the essence. I was ordering a piece of essential medical equipment. which was growing scarcer by the minute because of Covid. Being messed about by invisible middlemen (probably robots) was the last thing I needed. The loss could have been hospitalisation at best.

OK, I doubt used graphics cards are quite as vital, but we were asked for an opinion on the method of purchase/supply.

At the end of the day, if you deal with these 'numbers' you will have no contact with the supplier. Lazada are quite genuine IMHO, and refunds will be forthcoming if the numbers are a con.

As mentioned, it is an individual, not a store, so no reviews. Its some dude selling used GPUs.

Just wondered if there was any protection from Laz for allowing anyone to sell anything on its platform.

Unlikely he'd register on Lazada to sell just one item, so his entry should show some history and star rating.

If he's not offering even 7 day return it might be better to leave it.

I'd rather buy stuff like that from a store or at least an individual with history and offers a return policy and answers messages.

Even Ali would be less risky.

He has about 15 graphics cards, all reasonably priced - the stores are asking astronomical prices, even for used ones.

I think its worth the gamble considering the price - how would Laz allow people to sell broken items on their website, its plain fraud?

Correct.

I've notice many of these guys take many guises - keep looking and you'll probably find the exact same bits on sale in several places. Probably takes a minute to set up, and if you reel one in - a satisfied scammer.

Of course, there will be a few genuine sellers as well.

Assume this is for gaming, probably taking a gamble is the only way of getting even an only average performance graphics card at a reasonable price.

Indeed, prices are insane in Thailand for these sorts of things. A $200 card in the U.S. is upwards of 15,000 baht here if they even have them in stock ... and 3-4-year-old used ones cost more now here than they did when new. :banghead:
