Just to let you know now we are back on line

The restaurant will be closed for religious ceremony on friday and saturday. Open as usual monday. We will be announcing some new dishes over the weekend so watch this space.

Seems it is traditional on a Thursday to eat yellow pea soup with ham, followed by pancakes with fruit preserve and whipped cream.

My Swedish neighbours tell me this is traditional on the last Thursday of each month, but they made us some last weekend. It was very nice, but they weren't happy with the sauce, which was darker like gravy and certainly not yellow. The cook said she used to be able to buy the sauce mix in Villa. Can I ask what you use, or is it a trade secret?

And it was accompanied by a delicious (and rather strong) hot punch.
Perfect for a cold winter's day in the wilds of northern Sweden...

We pea-souped again the other day. As you know there are a lot of Swedes in the HH area (about 7,000 I think they said ), most coming for 2-3 months once or twice a year. The most frequently requested item is the Swedish peas for pea soup.

See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punsch Not sure you'll find any here, but if you're interested, I get regular supplies of "essens" of aquavit, and one little bottle of Swenske Punsch essens has found it's way to my booze cupboard. Mixed with a bottle of Gilbey's vodka, you have a perfectly acceptable bottle of whatever the essens has been essensed from.

My only grouse with Naab Thong is how often you seem to close on a whim. Took a carload up for a sausagefest at lunchtime, but the cupboard was bare. A long way to go for a wasted journey...
