Not that I've noticed. Yes, Shiva's prices did rise a little, but 4 of us ate very well there Sunday night and the price was 1220฿, which wasn't OTT in my opinion. Or are you saying Kwality is more expensive (genuine question)?

Yes, both restaurants are more expensive than eating at Baan Kun Por, but IMHO you get what you pay for.

I think that's reasonable for 4 people.
A few years ago we had lunch there and I thought the prices were too high for the quality. I haven't been back and I can't comment on the present situation.

From what I remember, Shiva was more expensive than Kwality. (an unfortunate spelling)

I have been a loyal customer to Shiva over the past 6 years or so. I have to say on my last several visits I was not so impressed with the food.

The surroundings are a bug reason for eating there, very well maintained garden and I like talking with the owner Dr. Dewan.

However the food isn’t as good as it previously was IMO. During the first years I believe a family of Nepalese were employed for the service and cooking. This changed some time ago along with the food quality.

I’ll will still go to Shiva as it’s not only the food that draws us there.

The food at Kwality was really enjoyable, but the horse stables next to the house/restaurant were a little off putting. I’ll be sure to call in at the new place some time soon.

Yes, a very approachable man (though just occasionally a bit too chatty! ). I remember commenting to him on some plants and he insisted on giving us some cuttings.
This is the way

Dr Dewan has the knack of almost making you feel that you’re his favourite customer - he must have a few hundred of them!! But as others have mentioned, he’s by and large, a very pleasant and well meaning man and helps to make the visit a pleasant experience. Must admit that because of Covid we haven’t been for over a year - maybe a visit soon is in order.

I hadn't eaten at the old one before but we ate at the new one the other night and I found it to be very good. The owner also told us he has dropped his prices since moving to the new location.
Have you eaten at Shiva and if so how would you compare the food (Shiva has a nice setting)?
No, I haven't unfortunately. I keep hearing good things about it and have often considered going there but never actually made it yet.

I wouldn't describe Kwality restaurant as having a great decor or setting - it's pretty basic actually. However the food is good, prices are not bad and for us it's really convenient - only about 800 metres from our house.

Actually, talking to the owner, he said that was one of the main reasons they moved - too many people were complaining about the stables being off-putting.

Never been there even though I can see it from my condo window. I know the owner and the cook (a 100 year old looking woman) are Indian. I see plenty of Grab picking up food from there.

Some of the photos in the Google Maps reviews are from their old location (I believe on soi 94). They are now opposite Bangkok Hua Hin Hospital - so if you over do the spice it's only a 2 minute walk for stomach ulcer treatment.

Well, I have just eaten at Atcha Indian Restaurant. The food was amazingly good with large portions. A small place, open at the front to the elements, which is important now, not too far north from my end of 112, but also just off the the Palu-U road, or if heading up 88 from town, it's a right at the lights. Just use Google Maps and enter Atcha Hua Hin and you'll get there.

Really well worth it. Everything was good. Bhaji's, pakora's, Samosa's, A Tikka Masala and a Dopiaza, saffron and basmati rice and garlic as well as onion nan's, all spot on very good.

You will leave feeling rather full!

Is that the one that closes very early? Friends have told me about it, and have said how good it is, but we haven't tried it because it is lights out at 8pm....................... or was that because of some Covid restrictions at the time?

The website confirms that they close at 8pm so you’ll need to eat early if you want to try it - no problem for me as our stomachs are always ready to eat by 6pm.

Me too, but if people are at work, they can't always make an early K.O.

It's on our list, but early lights out means it needs to wait until circumstances are right.
