That is the one. Thanks hhfarang.
I might give it a try later but the question remains:
why does this happen atfter installing and using the 3.5.2 Firefox version where I had no problems of this kind before? Any experts out there with an explanation?

There is no logical reason why upgrading FF would cause your DNS (page refresh) problems unless it simply coincided with your provider having another (all too regular) bad day.

Try OpenDNS as others have suggested in other threads - I very much doubt its a Firefox problem.

Well, since my free software thread met it's demise, then I suppose here is the place to ask this question, which is regarding that free Advanced System Care scanner,

In the "Diagnose System" circle it has a section in the scan regarding "Security Defence - Prevent spyware from being installed on your computer." When it scans and finishes, it says something like "4810 problems" found, OK fine, hit the "Fix" button and it goes through and zaps them all reporting that said "problems" are dealt with. Sounds great, I'm happy, got the better of all that nasty spyware bollocks.

Things is though, when I scan again a week later then it comes up with exactly the same number again. Does it remove it completely? Why is it the same number again? Why doesn't Kaspersky stop it (Internet security 2009 version)? Are these security suites set up stop deal with "spyware"? Do you need a specific scanner for spyware? What about adware/riskware etc, do you need another one for them?

Sorry, lots of questions there but can someone clear it up for me? What's this all about? Am I having my chain yanked?

I don't use ASC or Kasper and don't know jack about IT either apparently so can't help you much.

Only suggestion is to download and scan it with this: malwarebytes.org

Works a treat for me.

 Well, we'll have to disagree there dude. You have saved many on this front. That notion just comes from a mouthy handbag wielding type.

Maybe I'll start a poll about "Bring back Buksi to the Digital Realm, Yes or No".

Sure the results would be cool. :thumb:

I use Picasa 3 to view photos.

Does anybody know one that shows the first frame of your video, like your phone does, as opposed to just showing the logo of your media player.

I simply use Windows Explorer - change the view to Large or Extra Large icons. Works fine, with no need to download anything.

Can't download AWOL!

Post by Khundon1975 »

I have a problem, when trying to download/save AWOL online magazine it does not appear in my Document file.

I am running Windows Vista with IE7 (I know, I know) I follow the link to download, the programme says it is downloading and I get the screen showing that it is downloading to my saved doc's but when I open it the file is empty.

I cannot even read it online as it says that it does not support HTML ?

I don't think it is Avast that is causing the problem, can anyone help?

Don,

I've just switched to IE7 for you, and I'm running Vista. It downloaded fine. If you want to PM me your e-mail address, I'll e-mail it to you.

Caller, it should work for IE7. It downloads or says it has but is not in the saved file.

It would be useful if you could download Firefox - it only takes a couple of minutes. If AWOL downloads for you in Firefox, then you could be fairly certain that your IE is the problem. If you want to stick with IE after that, you either re-load 7, or upgrade to 8.
