I can't understand anyone objecting to AZ
Among more than 20 million people who have been vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine in the UK so far, 79 cases of rare blood clots with low platelets have been reported, as well as 19 deaths, said the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency. This equates to around one case per 250 000 people vaccinated—0.0004%—and one death in a million.
About 100 000 people usually develop blood clots every month in the EU, and 3000 cases a month are thought to occur in the UK.

There's no logic to it, if that's what you're looking for. Unfortunately, as well as the conspiracy theorists who believe it's all a sinister plot to implant tracking devices, etc., there's a not-so-small minority whose glass is forever half-empty, who look for the cloud and ignore the silver lining, and underline potential problems while ignoring the benefits.

These are not isolated loonies, one or 2 friends of mine have fallen into this habit, much to my irritation, intelligent people who have developed an inexplicable blind spot.

Anyway, I have my 2nd (AZ) jab tomorrow. I wasn't very well after the first, but I'm not sure whether that was just a coincidence. Either way, I'm keen to get it done and for every other bugger to get it done too, so that we can get back to some semblance of normality and start talking about the weather again.

Oh, and I had my first haircut in 6 months!! Hello folks...

For some people, me included, it depends on the state of one's health as to whether or not the risk is worth taking. I have low platelets and stage 5 ckd and I don't feel assured about having the vaccine. I'll continue wearing a mask in public and staying away from crowds. I've done that all my life anyway, crowds, not masks, so it's no hardship to continue.

Best I can do I'm afraid!!

For some people, me included, it depends on the state of one's health as to whether or not the risk is worth taking. I have low platelets and stage 5 ckd and I don't feel assured about having the vaccine. I'll continue wearing a mask in public and staying away from crowds. I've done that all my life anyway, crowds, not masks, so it's no hardship to continue.

Just to put a positive angle on that:

My mother is 95. In remission from cancer, has osteoarthritus, regularly has blood clot control (warfarin), suffers from pleuracy

May have other ailments but they're the ones I know about. Nothing wrong with her brain and when asked, her normal reply is "Get me a new body and I'll be fine'

My point: She's had both doses of the AZ vaccine. She was one of the early ones to get it and she suffered zero side effects. She's very positive regarding the risks of not getting vaccinated.

She's looking forward to her 3 month visit to Thailand next year when she'll be 96!

That's great. Your mother has more faith than I have. I'm only 82 and take no medication and don't want any. My experience with drs. and the medical profession has been less than satisfactory, (that's putting nicely) & except in the an extreme emergency, I avoid them.

Well, my second (AZ) is booked for the 7th - 1st jab no diferent from the Flu jab, where I feel cr@ppy for a couple of days afterwards (that said, I'm suffering with the after effects of Covid anyway.....). Like you DM, I'm keen to have it and hope all others follow. The LHG has had her 2nd (Pfizer dose) and the family "seniors" have had their 2nd doses - as carers, my brother and sister have had the Pfizer jab, my other brother and mother having the AZ jab.

The risks of not having the jab far outweigh not having it - simples!

But on the subject of vaccines, it's a lot of fuss about nothing and my question to those who don't want them would be what is your answer to this pandemic?
My last vaccination took about twenty minutes of my time and exceeded my expectations as I got a free key ring from the Air Ambulance service that gave me the jab!

Didn't get mine in a plane or helicopter, but rather the local "Practice" .... I shall ask for a free gift though - perhaps a signed photo with the nurse!

My jab is scheduled for 15:28 , when I joked about the accuracy of the timing, I was told the jabs are given every 4 minutes - this from my local "Community Hospital"!! Can't say how grateful and thankful I am fot the NHS

How does one book to get the vaccination in Hua Hin?

There is an app that is entirely in Thai, and required a Thai ID number. I believe Foreigners will be told soon.
