Do they have to verify it is a true copy or confirm it is correct, only jokingfabman wrote: ↑Mon Nov 19, 2018 3:24 pm So i got my proof of income letter back from the British embassy in Bangkok today. Went down to Immigration here in Hua Hin. I was told that i have to go to Cheang Wattana immigration in Bangkok , to have the income letter from the British embassy verified ( stamped ). Is this normal for everyone ? I thought the Official letter from British Embassy would be enough.

I've never had to do that although I have heard that Americans have been told to verify it at the MFA. As far as I know, they can only verify the embassy signature.
Re: Some Bangkok Embassies to stop Certification of Income Letters
Maybe it's because it's the first time I am going this route ..i am currently on a 60 day family visa, so changing over to an O visa.
I have to go to Bangkok anyways, I had it confirmed off the Lady who does the Photos outside the immigration office ( she is knolegeable about most things) and the officer inside said the same thing.
The ammount of forms and requirements I have /am going through over the last couple of months is ridiculous. No wonder the visa system puts a lot of people coming here.
I can see why some people go the route of having a friend in immigration
( if you have the spare cash)
Trying to do it the honest way is a nightmare in my experience
I have got so much paper work and verified documents but they always seem to ask for something else..
Even the officer in immigration said it was complicated.
Hope I don't have to go through all this again next year
I am assuming renewing is a bit easier? But then again who knows.. TiT

If it's a retirement visa it's easy. If it's a marriage visa there's still a lot of paperwork.

renew one year visa..where do you go to renew
If you already have over the 65,000 baht requirement and have always had over the years and with the embassy not validating income any more......where do you go with your bank records to prove again the amount (65,000) when it is time for you to renew the one year visa? Do you go to the local immigration to have your one year retirement visa renewed or have to go to the bangkok ministry to get it verified and then back to local immigration? I asked the local immigration office this question and all they told me was to have the 800,000 deposit and nothing about the 65,000 monthly.
Re: Some Bangkok Embassies to stop Certification of Income Letters
^ I think it's safe to say that at the moment it's still a big unknown as there has been no official Immigration Headquarter announcement about the issue, only one-off statements made by immigration personnel at various offices.
However, it does seem to be leaning towards full cancellation of the 65,000 per month income option, and 800,000 in the bank then the only option.
Stay tuned to this thread as when something official is finally published it will be on here. Pete

Or not .... and just assume, to be on the safe side, the 400k / 800k in the bank, for allotted time, is the way to go. Save yourself from 24 pages of "We don't know"...
Until proved different, which won't be for about 6 weeks. If I remember, I'll ask 1st week of January, when I change over to marriage from retirement, if the 40k a month and or affidavit, would have been approved.
Unless someone else applies or extends earlier........as stated......stay tuned.

All it takes is 800,000Bht in a Thai bank, sent from outside of Thailand, and kept in an acct. for 3 months prior to application and every year thereafter. Then there's the usual 90 day renewal. See other posts for more details on what is necessary to renew your visa. That hasn't changed for several years but one never knows, do one?

Re: Some Bangkok Embassies to stop Certification of Income Letters
I renewed my retirement visa on Thursday. They made it very clear that next year they will only accept proof from my Thai bank that I have had 800k on deposit in an account solely in my name for 3 months.
They will not accept any income statements or other evidence.

Totally agree. I know 2 retired UK expats who have decided to go back as they will not qualify. The problem both have is how to sell their assets in Ting Tong Land. I have told both that if they sell their assets as I have just done and rent they will easily have enough cash in the bank. Unfortunately both think they can make substantial profits on their homes. They really do live in Ting Tong Land.fabman wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 12:58 amThe way the UK £ is going that will probably be nearly £25 grand.. Lucky? Or for much of their working lifetime did they live beneath their means, saving and investing the difference?

Do you know if that is specifically in reference to yourself, since you extend in Nov, or was that a statement pertaining to all, effective January 1st, as being 'next year'.....???RCer wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 10:21 pm I renewed my retirement visa on Thursday. Think many are awaiting a clarification, not me though .... THANKS
I'll find out the answer next month, as my turn at Imm ....
