Referee Hooper foresaw a Vicario save from the Grealish 1-v-1. Thus no advantage. Pull it back for the earlier foul on Haaland, right decision.

A great game, very entertaining and Spurs dug deep to get a point. Contentious decisions aside, I think that without too much luck, City could have won by 2 or 3 goals - Spurs would have had to have been incredibly fortunate to have done the same!!
Not quite such a good game but still very entertaining - Liverpool came back to beat Fulham by the odd goal.

Far too early to be making any judgement- it’s not even the end of the year yet!!thecolonel wrote:Another away win for Everton last night
To put in perspective, if Prem league table was away only then Everton would be tied 2nd just 1 point behind Spurs
But could still easily go down

You’re being far too pedantic, but then again if I was an Everton supporter I think I would be too.

City seemed to have lost their 'killer edge' this season. Probably winning everything last season does that to teams.
As for the late foul / advantage with Grealish running onto goal, I wonder if the lino informed the ref he was offside, which is why the ref pulled them back for a foul? Refs will let play run for a few seconds to see if any advantage is gained, but we routinely see refs then awarding the free kick.
Some great games yesterday!

If I was Paul Heckingbottom I'd be furious with you. On you that one.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 29, 2023 6:14 pm This must go down as close to a record - we’re almost into December and no manager has been sacked - come’n Chairman, get your fingers out!!![]()

The ref made a mistake, otherwise having a decent game. But whatever the rights and wrongs of the referee's decision, the ugly and furious reaction from Haaland is very wrong on every level.
Haaland missed a couple of sitters during the game. Would it be okay for the City players and coaching staff to react to him in that way? No, of course not, it's unthinkable, and in any case it wouldn't happen.
This is far from an isolated incident, which wouldn't happen in any other sport I can think of, and it has to be stopped.
This is the way

Imagine reacting to a rugby ref like that

Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

But I do think you slightly missed my bigger point which was here we have a team that's basically at the top of the league in away form and yet could still go down(due deduction). Basically unheard of as best away form teams are usually the top 5 in the league.
Moving on do you have any views re deduction? I'm reading that the overspend all relates to interest payments on the stadium build and NOT on players so no sporting advantage gained. Plus we were told these payments would not count against profit and sustainability rules then a year later they(EPL) changed their minds after we spent it.
Hence EFC are appealing
Chelsea /Man City issues seem to relate to player spend

A sad fact of the sport unfortunately. Where many of the overpaid Prima Donnas will always believe themselves to be above the law be it on the pitch or life in general.dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 4:42 pm The ref made a mistake, otherwise having a decent game. Sadly there's also an increase in the aggressiveness of so-called supporters seen on Social Media - also evident in other sports including rugby

OK, quite a while ago now, but as far as I'm concerned its a case of what goes around, comes around. Everton's couldn't care-less mis-management almost put Plymouth Argyle out of business.
I don't remember the player's name now, but Everton bought him on a stepped payment basis. The player walked from Everton as a free agent (to Newcastle I believe) before Everton had finished the relevant paperwork. Plymouth did not receive the payment (about £100K), which was earmarked for the taxman. Of course, the taxman put them into receivership, and the points deduction was automatic.
No tears from me - in fact, I'm loving it. I don't think I'll be shedding a tear.

I have absolutely no views about the points deduction because I’ve deliberately kept clear of what’s been happening, sorry but I’m very much a bystander to all of this milaki.thecolonel wrote:Haha yes we're feeling a little touchy right now!Dannie Boy wrote:You’re being far too pedantic, but then again if I was an Everton supporter I think I would be too.![]()

But of all the teams in say the bottom five, I reckon Everton have a very good chance of avoiding relegation

Re: Premier League 2023-24
Well someone has to be first, so it might as well as be the manager of the bottom team in the league with only 1 win all season - although to the best of my knowledge, he hasn’t been sacked as yet, but I’m sure he will be before this time tomorrow!!Lost wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 4:30 pmIf I was Paul Heckingbottom I'd be furious with you.
