Yes, and as I noted on the Current Affairs thread Australia just locked down a city of 5 million for 7 days due to 26 cases.

I guess the top 6 commercial families here who control everything have repeatedly said no as it will put a dent into their operations. If some of the excess population dies, no big deal, there's plenty more, including migrants, to replace them. :banghead:

47 Covid deaths, new daily high

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... daily-high

There were 47 more Covid-19 fatalities reported over the past 24 hours, a new daily record, and 3,323 new infections, the Public Health Ministry reported on Thursday morning.

There were 2,104 new cases among the general public and 1,219 in prisons.

On Wednesday, 2,063 patients were diagnosed recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

In the third wave of Covid-19 since April 1 there have been 112,354 cases reported in total, while 66,402 patients hav recovered. The death toll for the period rose to 826.

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic early last year, the death toll in Thailand has reached 920, and the cumulative number of infections 141,217.

The previous record high of fatalities over a 24-hour period was 41 on Wednesday, when there were also 2,455 new Covid-19 infections confirmed.

Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman for the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said later during the afternoon daily briefing that the 47 new fatalities were aged 26-87 years. Twenty-six were men and 21 women.

Bangkok had 26 new Covid-related deaths. Four others were in Nonthaburi province, three in Chiang Mai and one each in Yala, Ayutthaya, Mukdahan, Phetchaburi, Ratchaburi, Khon Kaen, Si Sa Ket, Chon Buri, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Tak, Amnat Charoen, Nan and Songkhla.

Twenty-seven of them had hypertension. Other chronic illnesses they had were diabetes, renal disease, high cholesterol, lung disease, obesity, heart disease, previous stroke and cancer. Eighteen of them caught Covid-19 from family members.

Six got the virus from friends, neighbours, snooker players or bed-ridden customers. Eight either lived in or visited outbreak areas. Ten went to prisons, hospitals and markets. Two were vendors. One was a pregnant woman.

The 3,323 new Covid-19 cases included 2,083 local infections in 55 provinces and 21 imported cases. Of the local infections, 1,132 were confirmed at hospitals and 951 through mass testing.

Bangkok had the most cases, 894, followed by 280 in Samut Prakan, 233 in Phetchaburi, 129 in Nonthaburi, 98 in Pathum Thani, 59 in Samut Sakhon, 52 in Chon Buri, 45 in Chiang Rai, 35 in Nakhon Pathom and 31 in Songkhla.

Bangkok had 72% of the new cases, Dr Taweesilp said.

In Bangkok, there were 210 new cases in Klong Toey district and 49 new cases in Samphanthawong district. In Samut Prakhan, there was a new cluster of 116 cases, both Thais and Myanmar, at a processed food factory in Muang district.

In Phetchaburi, there were 30 new cases at an electronic parts factory where the total in the cluster rose to 2,820, Dr Taweesilp said.

Twenty-two provinces were free of new cases over the previous 24 hours -- Trang, Phitsanulok, Tak, Ang Thong, Phichit, Kamphaeng Phet, Nakhon Phanom, Yasothon, Trat, Nan, Sukhothai, Phayao, Phrae, Uttaradit, Chai Nat, Nong Khai, Phangnga, Amnat Charoen, Mae Hong Son, Uthai Thani, Bung Kan and Satun.

The 21 imported Covid-19 cases were arrivals from India (a Thai businessman) and Cambodia (20, mostly Thai online administrators returning through Sa Kaeo province).

As of Wednesday, 46,469 Covid-19 patients were at hospitals - 18,335 in conventional hospitals and 28,134 at field hospitals. Of these 1,201 were seriously ill and 399, about one-third, of the critically ill cases were dependent on ventilators, Dr Taweesilp said.

Global Covid-19 cases rose by 559,688 in 24 hours to 169.08 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 12,342 to 3.51 million. India had 211,553 new Covid-19 cases for a total of 27.37 million and 3,842 new deaths for a toll of 315,263.

The check-ups following vaccination is almost as if they're expecting 'unwanted' side effects.

Not trying to be negative, but if this report will be included later, isn’t it better to wait and have everything together, especially as inmate data is hardly going to affect those on the street?

Strange that the amount of new cases in prisons are specified yet not the number of recoveries in prisons, maybe there aren't any

I did hear the recovery rate yesterday. Maybe on the daily brief? It was a decent number.
