There's a saying that when you stop banging your head against a brick wall the pain goes away. Cha Cha Cha and his super rich cronies don't give one flying toss what's happening to the country until it starts to affect the billions of dollars they have stashed. They have a lot more bullets than the masses.

Record-breaking 5,485 new Covid cases, 19 deaths

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... -19-deaths

Health authorities on Monday reported 5,485 new Covid-19 cases, the most ever in a 24-hour period, raising the number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 159,792. A further 19 coronavirus-related fatalities took the accumulated toll to 1,031.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said 3,532 of the new infections were in the general population and 1,953 in prisons.

Bangkok still led the number of new transmissions with 1,356 cases, followed by Phetchaburi (555), Samut Prakan (358), Saraburi (327) and Pathum Thani (211).

CCSA assistant spokeswoman Apisamai Srirangson said the capital had detected two new clusters, a residential camp for construction workers in Bang Na district and a community in Sathon district, taking the total Bangkok clusters under close surveillance to 45.

Bangkok also logged the most deaths – 12 – while one each was reported in Kanchanaburi, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon and Nonthaburi.

The centre also reported 58 imported infections, including 55 Thais who returned to the country from Cambodia via the Sa Kaeo border crossing. The others were a man from the Maldives and a Russian man.

The economy must be in more of a mess than they are telling the public. What they're doing is a huge risk IMO.

Bangkok spa, parks, beauty clinics to open Tuesday

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... en-tuesday

City Hall has allowed some places with no reports of Covid clusters to open from Tuesday, including spas and beauty clinics.

Its communicable disease committee met on Monday to consider easing Covid-19 measures for businesses.

The panel decided that since the Covid clusters to date were found in communities, markets and construction workers’ camps, measures for other places should be eased to help operators.

The places allowed to operate from Tuesday are:

Museums, learning centres, with strict measures in place such as a ban on group visits

Tattoo shops, or shops providing any kind of skin-piercing services, and nail salons

Beauty and weight-control clinics and shops

Spas and massage shops, except sauna and facial massage services

Public parks, botanical or floral gardens, with strict measures in place such as a ban on group sitting and consumption of food and drinks, except drinking water

Other places remain temporarily closed until June 14.

A point coming perhaps where Bangkok will be a walled and barbed wired city isolated in order to save the rest of the country.

Spas and massage shops, except sauna and facial massage services
Which are largely owned by high-ranking cops and politicians.

Good to see Thailand has its priorities right, open the spas and nail salons for the well-to-do but keep the schools closed. :guns:

City Hall can open what they like, apart from parks, who will go?

My other half is still in Bkk and is working from home. Apart from going to the nearest 'local' Makro for water and to buy food for cooking from TOPS, she doesn't go anywhere.
