Flying to/from Thailand (Covid Era)
Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
Yes, a smart phone will be bought before I fly (hence the question on the relevant section).
I'd better get on with that then!!

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
I may be wrong but I seem to recall that if travelling into the U.K., the vaccine passport is only valid if vaccinated in the U.K. or approved E.U. equivalent.
Might want to check the gov.uk website.
Edit: i was either was either wrong or they’ve updated the page

If you're a resident in Thailand, (retirement or marriage visa) do you have to have a vaccination certificate to book a hotel?

I've just stayed in hotels in 3 different provinces and wasn't asked for it once.handdrummer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 1:57 pm If you're a resident in Thailand, (retirement or marriage visa) do you have to have a vaccination certificate to book a hotel?

You are right, mine doesn't either. How stupid is that? I would have bet money that it did (lucky I'm not a gambling man). Well, what a pointless waste of time.
I've used my Mor Phrom every time so far. Digital Health Pass has a working QR Code. QR Code on the Mor Phrom Vaccine Cert is useless though.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
It makes sense really - the passport is for international travel, and the (cr)apps, QR codes, and Thai certificates are for domestic use.
No other country on the planet would use a Thai QR code.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
So, advice from both of you, I suppose, would be for me get my finger out, buy a smart phone pdq and download that Mor Phrom thing. Is that right?
Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
That'll work for Thailand - but you may need the yellow vaccine passport as proof in the UK where they won't know WTF Mor Phrom is!

But the QR Code will read the same, whether read from Mor Phrom or the back of a fag packet. How many countries are there in this world? Be sure each country will have a different method.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates
Thanks for the efforts, people.
I've had it up to my eyeballs for today. I've just taken a look at the govt advice for the Passenger Locator Form and it doesn't seem to have been updated yet. I was going to go through it to see what it's about but not submit - can't anyway until 2 days before the flight.
I'd already made the decision to buy the 2,5 and 8 day test kits (about 120 GBP) and have that as backup if my Thai docs weren't accepted. But the site says that I'll have to produce docs at check-in.
I really think it'll be better to declare that I'm an unwashed heathen and show that the tests have been bought. If they say that I'm OK with the Thai docs then fine and I've wasted 120 odd. That's got to be better than getting a refusal to board and losing a 37K return flight.
Onwards and upwards. Tomorrow is another day.

I’d hate to say something that then backfired but when I departed from BKK to LHR, the only thing they checked at Thai immigration was my passport, ticket and PCR test. The airline checked that I had completed a UKTravel locator, but nobody asked for Covid Vaccine Certificate.lomuamart wrote:Thanks for the efforts, people.

When I reached the UK, nobody asked for my Travel Locator, all they checked was my passport. Ok so things are about to change with the vaccination system now that Sinovac is approved, but not sure they accept it having been administered in Thailand?
Like you, I opted for day 2&8 test and day 5 Test to Release - having these booked and paid for will only lower your stress levels, so IMO a worthwhile investment unless you find something categorically saying it’s no longer necessary.

Flying into Thailand, latest updates
Another test of my patience and raised stress levels!! Before you do your test you have to go online and register your kit - enter the reference number that’s printed on the envelope and test tube and then enter the 4-digit activation code, only there wasn’t a code on my email. So I had to call them - first time - sorry you’ll need to send an email from the same account you used when buying the kit. This I do and the reply I received was basically “the activation code is on the email you received confirming the despatch of the kit” only there wasn’t a code - I even got my son to check to make sure I wasn’t going mad (that’s more mad). So back on the phone and this time the woman I spoke to gave me the activation code over the phone - and I was in. Just as I was about to celebrate success, she asked me when are you flying, so when I answered Saturday morning she replied, hopefully you’ll get your test results back in time!! For FS, you can’t do the test more than 72 hours before flying so once again I’ll be anxiously watching my inbox for an email to arrive!!lomuamart wrote:Thanks DB. That's the way I see it.
