Will it burn out though? I know several who have had it multiple times. The only light at the end of the tunnel is vaccination seems to turn this big ogre into a pussycat as symptoms/effects are lessening in the vaccinated.

Well as the saying goes, only time will tell. There’s lots of evidence that shows that most (but not all) who get Covid after being vaccinated or get Covid for a second (or third) time, are not as seriously affected as they were in the early days. They’re still learning about the disease and it’s various mutations - the only thing that looks likely is that the mutations will continue but hopefully not into something very serious. Listening to the experts and taking their advice regarding further inoculations would seem to be the way forward, but there’s a risk that over time, the %age willing to follow the advice will reduce.

Yes, the maskless tourists are everywhere and the Thais are confused about whether to wear a mask or not.

When I was here in November, I got glared at in MV for not wearing one but this afternoon no one cared.

Why the Thais are confused is beyond me. The government directive was given out from October 1st (I believe). They're pretty quick to believe other information given by the government.
All they have to do is view the rest of the world where masks have been lifted. Why they still have the 'need' to wear a mask everywhere, out in the country, on motorbikes etc. is beyond me.
It's already understood that a mask gives little or no protection to the wearer and is used to protect others.

It always amazes/amuses me, how many people (even those on their own) wear them in cars - who are they going to catch Covid from?

"understood" by those who have the ability to understand.

Quite a few wore masks already, before COVID existed, to prevent spreading their germs to others so I suppose they just carry on doing so
Masks have never stopped catching anything but helped prevent spreading

Last week I was refused service at Kasikorn Bank near the day market for not wearing a mask despite there being a sign on the door warning not to wear helmets or masks so off I pop to the next nearest branch on Petch Rd. same sign on the door and welcomed in like the maskless prodigal son. All staff wearing masks which of course is their prerogative.

I get the air pollution argument for wearing a mask while in a traffic-clogged city such as HH - but WTF is going on when you're wearing one driving a car on your own with all the windows closed?

I’m quite certain that most Thais see the mask as the miracle protection that will stop them catching Covid, as opposed to greatly reducing the risk of passing it on to others.

The overwhelming majority of Thais are uninformed and poorly educated....which is why they continue to wear them in the belief it will stop them from catching what now is a cold.

I still wear a mask in busy places. Not for myself, but just out of courtesy to others in these places. As far as I'm concerned, we're all vaccinated, and those who aren't, it was generally down to personal choice, which I respect. For me, the ogre that was Covid has long gone.

Certainly the tourists I've spoken with are somewhat confused why Thais in general are wearing masks. I must say however, that I've noticed more and more Thais have taken their masks off. Slowly slowly!!

I know there was many mask wearers in BKK before covid but that was all about polution.

With Big boy on this. I wear a mask in the malls and trains etc to make those around me feel safer no matter how misguided that may be. It is no problem to me either way.
