What is lighter as time goes by without drying as the major issue, or deliberate consumption (I thought fuel products for a bit)?

Like I said, most will be very surprised. I had no idea either until I watched a recent History Channel show. It's not really something taught in schools, unless I presume you live where the product originated, which was New England. Pete

Potatoes are a big NE product I remember from living in Maine, but lighter on arrival, hmmmm.

I'm running out of clues!
It was highly prized by Queen Victoria. She couldn't get enough of it and sung it's praises constantly.
