Probably there'll be a change of mind when foreigners start dying and western newspapers come out with headlines like "Thailand won't vaccinate foreign residents", " Foreigners in Thailand dying for vaccination".

I have. It's easy to do - they have pre-prepared templates for such contact, but invariably it will go into file B1N.

On a brighter note, the hospital have just contacted Mrs BB with an appointment for her first jab - 9th June, so something positive is happening.

3 Covid-19 vaccines have been approved by the Thai Food and Drug Administration while 3 more pharmaceutical and biotech companies are in the process of registering Covid-19 vaccines for use in Thailand, according to FDA secretary general Phaisan Dankhum.

So far, the FDA has approved the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, which was made in partnership with Oxford University in the UK and now being produced locally by Siam Bioscience. The FDA also approved the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine and China’s CoronaVac vaccine, which was produced by Sinovac.

Moderna has submitted all of the required documents to the Thai FDA and Phaisan says it should be registered for use in Thailand this month. He says the administration is currently receiving registration documents from Biogenetech for its Covaxin vaccine and KinGen Bioteach for its Sputnik V vaccine.

The Thai government has also shown interest in the Pfizer vaccine, which studies show is safe for children 12 and up. However, no steps have been made in the registration process.

PM Prayut Chan-o-cha set a goal to vaccinate more than half the population by the end of the year. It’s a little unclear if expats are included in that goal.

In a press briefing last week, a spokesperson from the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said expats in Thailand will be included in the national rollout of Covid-19 vaccinations and an immunisation plan for foreigners would be released at a later date. On the other hand, a spokesperson from the Public Health Ministry recently said that Thais will have priority in the next stage of vaccinations due to the limited number of doses, adding that expats will need to wait until Thailand has a surplus of vaccines.

“The vaccines right now are only reserved for Thai people who are now at a high-risk level or living in the severe outbreak areas.”

Thai people will always be given priority for Covid-19 vaccines, the Ministry of Public Health said yesterday, denying reports that some expats living in the kingdom would also be allowed to register for free jabs.

The ministry said while the government wanted take care of everyone living here, it had no plans to give free vaccines to expats due to very limited vaccine stocks, so Thai people would be the first to get it.

"The vaccines right now are only reserved for Thai people who are now at a high-risk level or living in the severe outbreak areas," said spokesman Rungrueng Kitphati. "They [expats] should wait for a clear policy from the government.

"In the future, the country will provide more alternatives for vaccines so they could have a chance of getting it. Please don't worry.

I'm afraid 'the government' have had 16 months to think of a policy. Why should we think a few more months will help? In that time, the Health Minister labelled Farangs as dirty, smelly, badly dressed individuals who needed to go back to their own country.

Whilst talking about policy, isn't it government policy to reprimand those caught spreading false information? So when will we see the publications that told us Farangs could register with their pink ID (and there were a few) up before the beak? Or doesn't that policy apply when it only affects non-Thais?

Very good. Unfortunately she'll still have to be careful to protect you.

It would probably be a waste of time but all Thais being vaccinated should ask "But what about my husband/wife?".

Quite ironic in that 55,000 brits living here are not eligible for the vaccine.

That's the sort of stuff the nationalistic foreigner-bashers at the aforementioned newspapers could get their teeth into.

This chart is interesting. It also answers my question about the Samut Sakhon vaccinations - they've only done 7%.

Feeling lazy, but has anyone added up what these doses are in total, given the millions supposedly obtained already from Sinovac?

It's just occurred to me. AZ is my daughter's biggest customer just now (it was Pfizers but they've dropped to second!)

After talking to her, she's going to make sure they know just what's happened with their contract with Thailand. Nothing will come of it but it would be interesting to hear their reaction.
